The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office will host a tribute march to the American and Filipino forces that were forced to march more than 60 miles in the Philippine jungle during WWII. The proceeds from the tribute march will benefit the Rotary Club of Valdosta, specifically to the fund to aid Public Officers and their families in times of need. The win went to Valdosta Fire Department and Second Plac
e to Moody AFB. We will meet at the LCSO Range on April 9, 2022, at 0600 hours. The march will begin shortly thereafter. Participants will pay a $20.00 entry fee, which will cover your donation to the Rotary Club. The course will be broken up into three legs, each approximately 8.7 miles long. For full completion of the event, the participants will cover a 26-mile course. We will provide support vehicles throughout the event. It is up to the marcher to decide if they are marching “slick” or “rucking it”. Upon the completion of each leg, the participant will have the option of opting out of the completion, if they feel they can’t go on, but we encourage all to complete the entire march. Course maps will be provided on the day of the event. Please bring comfortable footwear (maybe a couple pairs), changes of socks (not cotton), food for the day, as well as liquid refreshments for yourselves. The support vehicles will carry your gear and supplies, or you can opt to leave them at the staging area, as you will return there three times during the event. We hope to have a large turnout for the event and hope to see as many employees as possible participating. Plan for a LOOONG day of testing yourself, both physically and mentally.
