Thank you so much to Mountainwood Homes for coming out to our shelter site and helping us with these homes! From painting to building a brand new fence, so much was accomplished for these projects. These homes need to be ready by 2027 so that families can move in. And thanks to Robert Wood and his team, we are well on our way to making that happen.

What a fantastic day at the Portland Gun Club. On September 11th, 2026, the Home Building Foundation hosted our annual trap shoot competition presented by PARR. This event helped us assemble the broader building community to raise funds that help us fuel our mission.

We could not have asked for a better day. Thank you to every volunteer, participant, sponsor, and supporter who helped make this event successful.

Thank you to James Hardie for supporting the 2026 HBF Trap Shoot Fundraising Event Presented by Parr Lumber as a Silver Sponsor! 🎯

The funds raised through the Trap Shoot help HBF put the strength of the homebuilding industry to work for our community, building and improving shelter for people experiencing homelessness and creating pathways into careers in the trades.

We’re grateful to James Hardie for helping support that mission and for being part of this year’s event! 🏘

There’s something special about building a place where people can come together. ❤️
The Home Building Foundation was proud to spend the day alongside Fireside Home Solutions to help bring a community-building project to life.
From setting a 1,000-pound outdoor fireplace to rebuilding and reinforcing the deck, our service team was happy to roll up their sleeves and help create a space designed for families to gather and make memories.
We’re incredibly grateful for partners who share our passion for strengthening our community through their time, talent, and big hearts.
We’ll be back soon to finish the work—and we’re excited to see the impact this space will have for years to come. 🏡

We’re especially proud to recognize Nathan Young, Founder of MODS PDX, HONE, and Building To Scale, HBF Board Member, and member of our Executive Committee.

Nathan gives an incredible amount of his time, knowledge, and energy to HBF. From leading shelter projects to helping build and teach Building to Scale, he is deeply involved in the work and continues to take on more as HBF grows.

“I believe it is incredibly important to share my knowledge, skills, and resources with those striving to improve their circumstances but who need a bit of support.”

Of the many HBF projects Nathan has led, Portland Rescue Mission stands out. Hearing directly from residents about what the renovation meant to them was an experience he says will stay with him forever.

We’re incredibly grateful for everything Nathan brings to HBF and for how generously he continues to show up for this work. 💗🙌💗
