On March 7 in Salem, OR, Livings Islands joined the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute’s Community Outreach and Engagement team in hosting a community cancer journey listening session for Pacific Islanders. The session allowed participants to share their cancer stories and the challenges their communities face in seeking treatment. Members of the council also shared statewide cancer data with attendees, in addition to cancer screening tips.

Are you willing to talk to us about your cancer journey and give us feedback that could improve the cancer patient experience in Oregon?

Join Living Islands and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU)’s Knight Cancer Institute Community Outreach and Engagement team for a community conversation about what is working well in the current cancer patient navigation system and where we can improve.

Participants will receive compensation, and a meal will be provided for in-person sessions.

This Giving Tuesday, Help NHPI Families Stay Connected, Prepared, and Seen

Living Islands is a small, culturally rooted nonprofit connecting Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander families with the resources they need to thrive. From GoFishPI crabbing weekends on the Oregon coast, to cultural health forums, to laptop and tablet distribution that closes the tech gap, our programs are built with the community, not just for them.

This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking for small donations to keep our community support programs going for the next 12 months. A gift of $10, $25, or $50 helps us reach isolated community members, connect them with services, and lift up NHPI voices across Oregon and the Pacific.
