Last Saturday, the Lake Oswego Lions and VE helped cook breakfast and dinner for the Guide Dogs for the Blind adoption event! VE members and volunteers Alice , Meng, Liu jia , Linda , Kadee , Melissa , Grace Di Di , Amy and Arthur all go to help cook. We arrived around 7:15 and worked till 2:00 pm. For our hard work, Lions donated 500 dollars in honor of VE club!

The Guide Dogs For the Blind is one of the largest dog schools in America. At this event, future guide dogs are able to connect with their future families. After being adopted, these puppies will stay with the adoption family for 15 months and then come back to be trained as guide dogs. The Multnomah County Fair was a success! At this popular fair that spanned three days last week at the Oaks Amusement Park, our VisionEnvoy Branch of the Lake Oswego Lions were able to share our culture through a hands on traditional clothing Hanfu experience and perform both cultural and modern dances as one of the starting shows on 5/27. Partnered with the Chinese Rose Princess organization and the Vancouver Jasmine Dance Group, VE was able to perform in front of such a large audience for an hour. VisionEnvoy vice presidents Jorie and Ophilia, as well as volunteer Sandy were even given the chance to present our culture and advertise our booth in a live TV interview. Thank you to the Vancouver Jasmine Dance Team, the Chinese Rose Princesses, and other guests for performing with us. Thank you to Mary Beth for giving us this extraordinary opportunity, we deeply appreciate what you have done for us.

For Lunar New Year, VisionEnvoy Club Branch hosted a special senior center event. We brought the Lunar New Year to the retirement community of the Portland Rose Schnitzer towers!

Our team prepared delicious Chinese dishes and dumplings, Showed our traditional Chinese hanfu, Walked the runway for the seniors, and led the seniors in a variety of games for prizes.

Overall, we were able to bring a smile onto everyone’s face, from our senior friends to our wonderful youth volunteers who were more than willing to help out and adapt to the situation.

Thank you to the Rose schnitzer tower for letting us host this event, Lions Club member Alice Yang for her dedication, The LO Lions Club for their support, Charlie Zhang for volunteering to be our camera man, the seniors who attended our event, and our performing volunteers. Happy Lunar New Year!
