Domestic violence isn't always visible.

When we think about domestic violence, we often think of physical harm. But abuse can also be verbal, emotional, sexual, or financial. Recognizing these different forms is an important part of understanding what safety really means.

For women living far from home, distance from loved ones, language barriers, immigration concerns, and unfamiliar support systems can make seeking help even more complicated.

This October, we're taking our conversations about safety beyond the screen and into our local community!

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Far From Home is hosting a special evening at , bringing together practical self-defense training, story, and connection.

Together, we’ll learn practical self-defense techniques that can help build awareness, confidence, and skills for responding when our boundaries or safety are threatened. No previous boxing or self-defense experience is necessary.

We’ll also hear from our very own Amanda, a member of Far From Home’s Soul Care Team, as we share her Real Women. Real Stories. film. Amanda is a survivor of domestic violence, which she experienced while living far from home overseas. She’ll join us to share more of her story and what she has learned along the way.
