Lake Orion Youth Wrestling Club

Youth wrestling club for boys and girls ages 5-14 located in Lake Orion, MI. Our club is home to wrestlers of all skill levels and experience.

The Lake Orion Youth Wrestling Club is a registered youth club through MMWA (Mid-Michigan Wrestling Association), an affiliate of USA Wrestling. We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for boys and girls ages 5 to 14 from Lake Orion and our surrounding communities. Our program is designed to teach wrestling in a fun, competitive environment and to develop a young wrestler's

BIG PICTURE: At each practice, our wrestlers are reminded that we gather to make each other champions on the mat. But the real development we seek is crafting a tenacity and toughness to excel in the arena of LIFE.

As we roll up the mats after the first practice of the 2024-2025 season, it was fantastic to see scores of new faces and dozens of returning wrestlers. We're gonna EAT this year with Energy, Attitude, and Toughness!

Yesterday's Oakland County MS Championships featured 14 former or current LOYWC members. These wrestlers propelled Lake Orion to a 3rd place finish out of 22 teams.

We had 9 athletes finish on the podium for LO, including 3 champions!

Sunday's MMWA State Finals brought our 2024 season to an end with 8 Dragons securing podium finishes!

In addition to our youth, 6 LO high school wrestlers participated in the MMWA HS Finals. Former Club wrestlers Chris W. finished 3rd and Ryker G. secured 4th place.

We want to extend a HUGE thank you to our Club families for trusting us with their athletes. We also want to thank our coaches (and their families) for the time and energy they freely give our wrestlers each week.

LOYWC is proud of EVERY wrestler who put their toe on the line this year. We have always had a strong foundation but each year we get tougher and more technical. With over 60 Novice wrestlers waiting in the wings, falling in love with the sport, and buying into our culture, the future of LO wrestling is bright.

It's always tough when the season ends for good wrestlers but we push on. Our sport can never be mastered but it's that pursuit that crafts us into who we are.

The club's main goal is to teach wrestling in a competitive, but fun environment, and to develop a young wrestler's potential through goals, commitment, and hard work. The coaching staff emphasizes life lessons, through the importance of teamwork, respect, perseverance, and above all, fun.
