SJS Teacher Awarded High Honor... Last week, the Archdiocese of Detroit Department of Catholic Schools recognized all the teachers of the year from each AOD Catholic school. They then awarded the "top prize" of the annual Bishop John M. Quinn Excellence in Catholic Teaching Award to our very own Mrs. Theresa Machak, an SJS alumna and middle school math teacher. The ceremony took place at the Corner Ballpark, formerly Tiger Stadium, between two Catholic High School League baseball championship games. We are very blessed to have Mrs. Machak serve at our school, and we offer her our gratitude and best wishes on receiving this well-deserved recognition.

What an honor for one of our St. Joseph School teachers! Mrs. Machak and her family are lifelong parishioners, too. We are proud of all the school's faculty and staff and appreciate how Fr. Jim and Fr. Mark support them. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and bless our school.

Have a blessed Memorial Day Weekend - We can feel united in faith with all of those who have come before us, knowing that the promise of God’s kingdom is available to everyone. On Memorial Day, we think especially of those who died during military service.

“Heavenly Father, we lift up in prayer today our brothers and sisters who have gone before us, sacrificing their own lives for the protection and safety of others. We are grateful for their service. May they inspire us to live selflessly in our own lives, as Christ calls us to do. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.”

EMERGENCY UPDATE: Due to the water main break, our building and offices will be closed until further notice. This includes the Adoration Chapel.

- AOD Listening Sessions scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, and Thursday, May 14, have been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 26, and Thursday, May 28. If you have already registered, you will receive an email to help you re-register for one of the new dates.

- Mass on Wednesday, May 13, is canceled.
