What a great week of robotics! Team 302, along with Oakview CyberDragons FTC #8580 and Lake Orion Hydra Dragons Robotics, teamed up to host a coding and robot-building camp. Students spent the week learning to code, build, problem-solve, and work together while having fun along the way! We loved seeing their creativity, teamwork, and excitement for STEM in action! We are so proud of the LOHS students from Team 302 who had the opportunity to tour the Michigan State Capitol after being invited by State Representative Steele! During their visit, they shared the incredible work our team does in the community and the impact FIRST Robotics has on students’ lives. This is another important step in making robotics visible to those who can help it grow and reach even more students! Go Dragons! Lake Orion Community Schools Lake Orion High School

June Outreach Highlights!
Our robotics students shared their passion for STEM this month by demonstrating their robots to preschoolers at Goddard School and introducing them to the exciting opportunities STEM offers.
They also participated in the Lions Jubilee, where children had the chance to drive the robots and experience the fun of robotics firsthand.

Three students from Team 302 had an incredible experience attending the National Advocacy Conference (NAC) in Washington, D.C.! While there, our students represented our team with professionalism, passion, and confidence as they met with policymakers to advocate for continued STEM funding and opportunities for students across the country. We are so proud of how well they did in every meeting! During the conference, students met with Representative McClain’s staff, Senator Peters’ staff, and Representative Walberg and his staff to discuss the importance of investing in STEM education. One of our students also had the incredible opportunity to meet with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and also had a meeting in the White House with the Student Association for STEM advocacy (SASA) team—a truly unforgettable experience!

The team also explored our nation’s capital, played mini golf on a historic course, and even conquered an escape room together!

This trip was about much more than sightseeing—it was about giving students a voice and helping shape the future of STEM education. We couldn’t be prouder of Team 302 for representing our community with excellence and demonstrating that students can make a real impact. What a fantastic way to wrap up the season at our Robotics Team End-of-Year Picnic! Our student leads put together creative and hilarious paper plate awards for every student and mentor. Each class was recognized with a special award celebrating their contributions to the team. Our seniors also received heartfelt awards from our head mentor, recognizing the impact they’ve made on the program over the years.

We also celebrated students for outstanding service hours and sponsorship efforts that helped make this season possible.

To top it all off, our students and parents surprised the mentors with a Keurig to fuel all the late nights in the shop — such a thoughtful gift!

Congratulations to our Rookie All-Star, Zoe, Team Vision Award Winner, Charlie, and our season MVP, Ben A.! We’re proud of everything this team accomplished this season and grateful for the amazing students, mentors, and families who make it all possible. Go Dragons!
