Approximately 16 members of the Lake Orion Lions Club volunteered at Bear Lake Camp on Wednesday evening during the Visually Impaired and Blind Youth Camp week, where they had the privilege of cooking and serving dinner to the campers.

It was truly heartwarming to witness the excitement, joy, and confidence that camp brings to these young people. Seeing the smiles on their faces and the friendships they build is a wonderful reminder of the positive impact Bear Lake Camp has on the lives of visually impaired and blind youth.

The Jubilee carnival and beer tent are behind us for this year. We want to thank all of our partners who stepped up at the last minute to save the event after it was cancelled downtown. Orion.Events, Orion Township, Michigan (Fire, DPW, Recreation Parks, etc), Lt. Z of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, Skerbeck Entertainment, and Sick Pizza were all a huge asset to the Lions Club. Each of these organizations made this transition as easy as possible and went out of their way to work with us.

The planning didn't really start until April, so a lot of things had to be pulled together at the last minute. Despite this, we managed to have 5 bands instead of 2 downtown, much easier parking, and 3 extra rides that wouldn't fit downtown. With the new beer tent in this beautiful park setting, you could sit on the hill close and listen to the music or stay up top for conversation without losing your voice, all while enjoying food from the Sick Pizza truck.

We are already putting together ideas for next year. There will be more rides, more shade on a hot day, even better bands, and more. We'll prove to everyone that this location can be far better because of the amount of space we have.

Thank you also to all who attended and decided this is a tradition worth saving after 50 years. You won't be disappointed next year either!

Flare Night 2026 was nothing short of spectacular and everyone can now view it on video!

The shoreline came alive in a breathtaking ring of light, beautifully captured by drone pilot Michael Phillips. Thank you for preserving this unforgettable tradition from above.

A special thank you goes to everyone who purchased a Flare of Remembrance in honor or memory of someone who made a difference in their lives. Those glowing tributes on Preston Island created a powerful and meaningful display. We are especially grateful to island owners Dino and Marsha for once again hosting this beautiful remembrance display.

Together, you helped create an unforgettable celebration of America's 250th Birthday and the 81st year of Lake Orion's beloved Flare Night tradition.
