All Orion Fire units continue to respond to calls for service related to the ice storm.

The average amount of calls for your Orion Township Firefighters is 11 in a 24 Hour period.

In the first 10 hours of today’s shift, there have been nearly 60 calls. These have ranged from multiple structure fires, 6 pole fires, dozens of down trees, dozens of down wires, and our regular calls for medicals.

Please refrain from traveling unless absolutely necessary and treat every power line as if it’s live and energized.

The past 24 hours have been especially busy for the firefighters of Orion Township.

First, our members responded twice to the Grand Blanc Township Church incident. First to provide fire suppression at the church during the fire. Second to cover GBT Fire Station 2 so their members could recuperate.

Today, we assisted Oakland Township on a multi-acre brush fire requiring thousands of gallons of water to extinguish. Following this incident, we were dispatched to a working fire in a small plastic barn. Fire was contained and extinguished by one engine company.

And late this evening, we responded to a vehicle through a building at Baldwin and Waldon rd.

The last 10 days have been especially busy for your Orion Professional Firefighters. We’ve responded to 120 calls for service keeping on pace to make 2025 the busiest year on record. A record previously set last year.

In these 10 days we’ve responded to the following

— 2 Residential Structure Fires

— 1 Mutual Aid to Independence’s 2nd Alarm Structure Fire

— Car crash w/ multiple entrapments

— Multiple calls for heart attacks & strokes

— 23 calls to Nursing Homes/Assisted Living Facilities

Our regular average call volume is 11 calls for service in a 24 hour period.

However in the last 36 hours we’ve been dispatched to 21 calls including several large incidents.

- Battery fire incident at General Motors.

- Electrical fire incident in a commercial building.

- Working vehicle fire

- Cardiac Arrest

2025 marks 125 years of established fire protection in Lake Orion and Orion Township.

As we look back on 2024, it marked an historical event in our department’s history. We experienced our largest call volume in the 125 year history of service.

We were called to assist Auburn Hills Fire Department on this incident. This is a shared border between our two departments. Please avoid the area until OCSD clears the scene.

We are out at a very bad injury accident at Dutton Road and Bald Mountain. If in the area, please find an alternative route.

In the last 36 hours, we have responded to 3 residential structure fires.

— 3000 Block of Waldon Rd for a well involved structure fire in a home.

— 6000 Block Tappon Rd for a garage fire (mutual aid to Independence Township

As of 4:30am this morning, 4000 Block of Catalina for a fire in a fire place with extension in the home.

This year, we have now responded to more calls for service than at any point in our department’s history.
