Happy Recognition Wednesday everyone. Today, let’s give a shout-out to Rylee, who as a supporter collected comfort care items to donate to our homes.

• Where do you live (city)? I live in

Oxford

• What first brought you to Safe & Sound/Heartwise Workshoppe, and what made you want to get involved?

I learned about this ministry from my church, lake point and I loved its purpose and what they were doing for the community. They were the first ministry I thought of when I decided on a capstone (community service) project for school.

• What’s something about your life or background that shapes the way you give and serve?

There has been many instances in my life that I have benefited from somebody else giving back, so whenever I have anything to give, whether it’s time or anything else I give it the best I can because I know if I need help I would l love for somebody to have the same generosity

• How has donating at Safe & Sound shaped your understanding of dignity or community for special needs adults?

When giving the comfort baskets that I had made I had a chance to meet a few of the people receiving them, they were so happy and grateful, the way this ministry has formed a community was really cool to see

• What’s a simple joy in your life right now?

Spending time with friends and family and also taking time for myself by practicing self care

• What would you say to someone who’s thinking about giving but feels nervous or unsure?

There are so many ways to give and Safe and Sound ministries is a great way to get involved, everyone I interacted with was very kind and grateful, they were able to help give me some pointers when I had a question or wasn’t sure about a certain part of my journey

School can be intimidating for students with special needs. Our special needs ministry network will be supplying 500 backpacks this fall to special needs students throughout our region. Awesome opportunity to experience joy while making a difference in someone else’s life!

Miracle League of North Oakland Baseball's summer season kicks off on June 6th and volunteers are needed throughout the season to buddy with our players on the field and also to assist in our concession stand. This is a great team building activity for companies, groups, families and friends👍 Great way for students to earn their community service hours, too. Come on out and join in on the fun, smiles are guaranteed 😁⚾️❤️ Volunteers 18 and over are required to submit a background check (once per season).
