This morning, Halle, Lana, Faith, and Tori competed at the State Food Science CDE! The team earned a Silver rating, and placed 10th overall! This is a brand new contest for all of these members, and they all had fun trying something new.

The past few days, our officers went on their summer officer retreat! The 6 officers headed down to Ames, where they had some great team bonding time and were able to start planning for the next year. We finished it off by attending the North Central Chapter Officer Leadership Training. We’re excited for the year ahead!

Today, Carter, Conner, and Calvin headed out to Iowa State University to participate in the state Agronomy CDE! Our team placed 23rd, and Conner was our highest individual placing 70th, with Calvin right behind in 71st!

Improving the environment one tree at a time!

Yesterday, we had the horticulture class and some FFA members help the 5th graders plant trees. We are so glad to be apart of this activity!

Last Friday, the Lake Mills FFA Chapter hosted our annual Elementary Petting Zoo! Elementary classes at Lake Mills were able to come and learn about different animals and equipment.

At Senior Awards last night, Mya Peterson was honored with the Dekalb Agricultural Achievement Award! This award is given to one FFA member per chapter who exemplifies scholarship, commitment, work ethic, and passion for pursuing a career in agriculture. Congrats, Mya!

The award was presented by the 2026-2027 Lake Mills FFA President, Calvin Rognes.

PLANT SALE UPDATE:

We still have plants available! We will be selling at the Middle School track meets on Tuesday (5/5) and Friday (5/8). If you would like to purchase plants, but can't make it to the track meets, please contact Mr. Deeter ([email protected]) to set up a time to come and purchase plants.

This Saturday, our greenhouse will be open for a plant sale! We will be open from 3pm-6pm. We have a limited selection of plants this year, so don't wait! Be on the lookout for additional dates depending on what is left after this Saturday.

*We might not be able to give change depending on when you come, so please come with cash/check in multiples of $5.

The 98th State FFA Convention is in the books!

We started off the morning with Royce and Calvin serving as voting delegates, voting on the next state officer team. Then, 4 members competed in Poultry Judging, where they earned a Silver Rating! Kyhanna played in the band, and Addy sang in the choir during the 3rd and 4th sessions. To cap off the day, Abby, Reagan, Austin, and Calvin all earned their Iowa FFA Degrees!
