Yesterday, 8 of our junior/senior members were able to attend the Farm Progress Show in Boone! Members were able to visit with over 500 booths of agricultural vendors and learn more about the progression of agriculture. Huge shout out to Garrett Anderson with Beck’s for purchasing our tickets and for suppling the members with water and snacks for the car ride!

Our Parent/Member Meeting and Alumni Back to School BBQ is on Sept. 13th! Parents and members will meet in the HS Auditorium at 5pm for a meeting, and then we will head to Oakwood Park at approx. 5:30 for the Alumni BBQ. Sunday marks the end of State Fair, which means Tori, Conner V., and Conner H. have wrapped up their year as Grandstand Ushers!

As a part of the ushering program, FFA members from around the state stay on the fairgrounds for the entirety of the fair, helping with various FFA shows, the FFA Display Booth, various community service activities, and most importantly, helping concert goers find their way around the Grandstand.

Our members enjoyed meeting new friends, walking around the fair and enjoying new foods, and of course, the variety of concerts.

Can’t wait to see everyone at school this week!

Day 2 of the Iowa State Fair is done! Alise showed a commercial gilt and a purebred market, earning blues. Lloyd showed 2 blackface market lambs, also earning blue ribbons. Hillary showed in Western Ranch Horse Confirmation, placing 5th and earning her 5th purple ribbon of the week. We got results for photography, and each exhibitor earned red ribbons in a competitive photography competition. Exhibitors were Halle, Faith, Kenlie, and Lane.

State Fair for Lake Mills FFA has wrapped up, but Tori, Conner V., and Conner H. will be ushering in the grandstand the whole fair, so if you’re at a concert, be sure to say hi!

Today begun FFA shows at the Iowa State Fair! Alise and Lloyd both settled in with their swine and sheep, while Hillary got started with her horse program! She got 5th place in Ranch Horse Pleasure and Western Equitation, 3rd place in Ranch Riding, and 1st place in Reigning, earning a purple ribbon in all classes! Tori, Conner V. and Conner H. also got settled in and trained to be Grandstand Ushers this year!
