Rotary Club of Seminole County Sunset Celebrates Nine Students at 14th Annual Scholarship Banquet
On the evening of June 17, 2026, the Rotary Club of Seminole County Sunset gathered for its 14th Annual Scholarship Banquet, an evening dedicated to celebrating education, perseverance and the promising futures of nine Seminole County students.
The banquet placed the scholarship recipients at the heart of the celebration. According to the event program, the students were selected because they demonstrated exceptional ability and fortitude, sometimes while facing difficult or challenging circumstances. The evening was more than an awards presentation—it was an opportunity for Rotary members, families and community supporters to recognize the determination behind each student’s accomplishments and encourage them as they begin the next chapter of their education.
The 2026 Scholarship Recipients
The Rotary Club of Seminole County Sunset honored the following nine students:

Each recipient represented the qualities the scholarship program seeks to support: academic potential, strength of character, perseverance and the determination to continue moving toward a successful future.
The banquet also highlighted the collective effort required to make these scholarships possible. Rotary members, volunteers, sponsors, local businesses, donors and event participants all play a role in transforming community support into educational opportunities for local students.
Turning Poker Chips into Scholarships
One of the organization’s principal fundraising efforts is Poker Chips for Scholarships, a community poker tournament created to raise money for the Rotary Club of Seminole County Sunset Foundation’s scholarship fund.
The tournament combines an entertaining evening of poker with a much greater purpose. Participants compete for prizes while supporting students who may benefit significantly from financial assistance as they pursue higher education. The official event site describes the tournament as including prizes for its top finishers, a 50/50 raffle and food, with proceeds benefiting the foundation’s scholarship fund.
For years, Poker Chips for Scholarships has helped the club turn a community gathering into meaningful assistance for young people. Every registration, sponsorship, donation and volunteer hour contributes to the larger goal of helping deserving students continue their education.
Poker Chips for Scholarships is one of three signature fundraising events promoted by the club. The others are the Doughnut Day 5K and the Beyond the Grave 5K. Together, these events raise funds for scholarships and community-outreach programs while giving residents several different ways to participate, volunteer or provide financial support.
A Community Investment in the Future
The 14th Annual Scholarship Banquet demonstrated what can happen when a community works together with a clear purpose. Funds raised throughout the year became scholarships, and those scholarships became opportunities for nine young people preparing to build their futures.
The event also reinforced one of Rotary’s central principles: service becomes most powerful when people unite and take action. By supporting students who have shown both ability and resilience, the Rotary Club of Seminole County Sunset is not simply recognizing what these young people have already accomplished. It is investing in what they may accomplish in the years ahead.
The June 17 banquet concluded another important year of service, fundraising and educational support—but for the nine scholarship recipients, it represented a new beginning.
