Maybe it’s speaking up more confidently in a meeting.
Giving a presentation without second-guessing yourself.

Think being prepared means memorizing every word of your speech?

It doesn’t have to.

In fact, focusing too much on remembering the exact words can sometimes make speaking feel more stressful.

Instead, know your message.

What are your main points?
What do you want your audience to remember?
Where are you taking them from beginning to end?

When you understand the message instead of memorizing the script, you give yourself more freedom to speak naturally, connect with your audience, and recover if you lose your place.

Preparation isn’t about being perfect. It’s about knowing where you’re going.

Know your message. Know your main points. Trust yourself to deliver them.

Have you ever finished speaking and thought, “Everyone could tell how nervous I was”?

Chances are, they noticed far less than you think.

When we’re nervous, we can become very aware of every shaky breath, forgotten word, or moment of hesitation. But your audience isn’t inside your head. They’re listening to your message.

Instead of asking, “Do I look nervous?” try asking:

“What do I want my audience to take away from this?”

That simple shift moves your attention away from yourself and back to the people you’re there to serve.

Nerves may still show up. That’s okay. Keep sharing your message anyway.

Confidence grows one moment at a time.

This week at Lake Mary Toastmasters, we practiced what Toastmasters is all about: getting up, speaking up, trying something new, and growing together.

Every meeting gives us another chance to strengthen our communication skills, think on our feet, and become more comfortable sharing our ideas with others.

And the best part? You don’t have to be an experienced speaker to start. You just have to be willing to give it a try.
