Don
Hello,
My name is Doug Page.
I am the Secretary for the Livingston County Federation of Sportsman’s Club.
On April 12th I attended the NYSCC Spring Meeting at the Arnot Forest Lodge in Cayuta, NY.
This was my third NYSCC meeting and my first as the designated Represetative.
After an excellent breakfast from Dunkin Donuts, President Keith Tidball addressed the attendees.
As you might imagine the major topic of the day was Re-energizing the NYSCC and….
Working within the committees and finding new or previous members for same.
I am writing today to ask your assistance in helping me contact anyone in your Federation that may have been or is interested in being a committee member in the Small Game Committee.
There are several new computer programs in the works to help keep us in touch with Bills that need to be watched on the NYSCC web site. As always, the NYS Legislature is using every method they can to control, limit or eliminate certain types of hunting in NY. The ban on Coyote and Squirrel hunting contest is the latest example of a law that should have seen a large response from the NYSCC.
Currently, Assem. Bill A00888 would abolish raising pheasants at the Reynolds Game Farm in Ithaca.
Pheasant hunting, widely considered the gateway to all other small and big game hunting, would soon be a thing of the past. Fortunately, there is not a Senate companion bill at this time.
With your help, the Council can fill the seats of the Small Game Committee and via the magic of the internet, Zoom meetings (UGH) and emails, we can once again become a voice in Albany.
You can contact me with information on new or current members of the NYSCC Small Game Committee at the email and cell phone number listed below.
[email protected] or text 585-260-8951
Best Regards and Thank You,
Doug

April 15, 2025 Minutes

This Council sponsored 6 kids to Camp Colby and Pack Forest this year.
While on the subject of kids!!!!!
The Annual 4H Kids Fishing Contest Sponsored by Saratoga County and the Town of Milton will be
held on May 10 at the 4H training Center on Middle Line Rd.

bucks. Kids under 4 are free. Kids entering the fishing contest must be from Saratoga County. You
Club Members be there to help---And drag your little terrorists with you. WE NEED HELP ALL
ARE WELCOME !!! and a big thanks to Barbara Kerr from the town. (hard worker )
DEC=Brush Ban still in effect till May 14.
Hochul appoints a new DEC commissioner. Her name is Amanda Lefton from where else--Down
State. She is known to lean towards environmental issues with her mission is to deliver clean air
and water for us. Not to bad as we all need this but I wonder what her stance will be on lead ammo.
Our ECOs got 2 guys on Lake George with no license and to many perch. !9 over the 50 limit.
CFAB=( February Minutes ) Discussed the 12 and 13 year old deer hunter program (DEC would
like to see it be made permanent) Also a regulatory proposal to allow kids who were successful to
bag a deer get a additional tag to continue to hunt during the regular season. They talked about the
bill to close the pheasant farm. Hope it dies in committee.
They are trying to figure out how to spend the 4 billion from the bond act, So far they are proposing
fixing up stream restoration and are looking for anyone out there with ideas for a project. funding is
now available.
NYS Outdoor news= Dont forget the safe boating course that you must have when operating any
kind of a boat with a motor.
Pistol Permit holder ust renew every 3 years now, ( DONT FORGET ) to check your status go on
www,firearms.troopers.ny.gov/precert and put in your certification number.
Bill before our legislators ( A01229/S05402 ) to protect migrating wolves that are coming in from
Canada. All coyotes and wolves be tagged by a DEC ECO. Next any animal weighting over 50
pounds will have to be DNA tested by the DEC to see if its a wolf and if it is, they might just ban all
trapping and hunting of them in the area where it was taken. How big and how long will this area
be closed and where is the money going to come from.
Another bill (A5611/S5974) will force all gun owners to have 1 million dollar liability insurance and
for each gun you own. I dont think there will be to many insurance companies out there that can
write this type of coverage and at what cost.
You know and can count on Queen Hochul to sign both
Henry Fi****ms is leaving New Jersey for a more friendly gun state. They are moving to northern
Wisconsin which I thought was a liberal communist democrat controlled state.
Youth Spring Turkey Hunt is this coming April 26-27. Lot of rules apply for the kids so be aware.
Word is out that the DEC might be shutting down or at least refuse to participate in the Region 5
FWMB. I dont think they can legally shut it down as the FWMB act was created by the NYS
Legislators--not the DEC. I heard they are bitching about the FWMB not taking enough action on
access for sportsmen. Where are they with the situation in Vishers Ferry where we are locked out
of hunting on STATE OWNED LANDS. Also why are we in Saratoga County being held hostage in
finding land owners along the Kaydeross Crick to give written permission to walk on their land to
fish or the DEC will not stock that part of the crick. What land owner is going to give signed
permission for the public to use their land.
Thats all folks=====Wife made, Home made chocolate chip cookies and coffee for after the
meeting

Good day all,

I recently had the opportunity to attend an Adirondack Conservation Council meeting at the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club and I thought I would share some information.

For those not familiar with the Adirondack Conservation Council it was established in 1947 for the purpose to promote, preserve and protect our natural resources. Since its inception in 1947, the ACC has fought to promote and protect our outdoor sporting activities not only this generation but future generations to come.
This group of men and women meet quarterly to discuss what's happening with the laws in Albany, they have speakers from fisheries and other entities and compile petitions to our local and state legislators to help support our ideals. They also work closely with schools and youth programs including hunter education in an effort to support our upcoming generation.

Do you hunt? Fish? care about the environment?
If you've answered yes to any of these then please ask yourself "what can I do to help"?

First and foremost, come to a meeting. They are held quarterly at the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club. Meeting starts at 10 am with an optional lunch served about noon.
Some upcoming dates are:
June 8th
September 21st
Decemeber 14th
Second, join as an individual or ask a local club you belong too to join the ACC.

This organization is in need of younger people to get involved and support the cause and reason it exists. It needs younger people to carry on the many years of work that has been done since its inception. This club can only continue with your support.

I've attached a copy of the trifold brochure about ACC as well as a membership form.

Please take the time to read over the information. Then fill out the application and mail it in today.

Thank you all for reading and I hope to see you at the next meeting.
