In 2009, after Jefferson Twp suffered the loss of several individuals by su***de, it became clear that there was immediate need to raise awareness about mental illness, provide education to the community and "connect" people through support and resources. JTCONNECT was founded in 2010 with the help of Debi Merz, Ellen Bechtold & Kristine Wilsusen. "JT Mental Health Project" was rebranded in 2012 t

o "JT CONNECT", signifying the need to "CONNECT" the community by raising awareness about mental health, erasing the stigma and providing acceptance and support so people would be willing to reach out for help.

We've launched a new website aimed at providing individuals, communities and organizations with the skills and resources needed to heal from trauma and to foster resilience.

Healing & Resilient NJ (healingandresilient.nj.gov), provides free trauma awareness training, academic research on Positive and Adverse Childhood Experiences (PACEs), a trauma-informed service directory, a listing of virtual tools to reduce stress and promote resilience, and more!
