Last night was so special. 🤍

Our third annual Wave of Light was such a beautiful night. There is something incredible about being surrounded by people who understand this kind of loss and creating a space where we can talk about our babies and make sure they are remembered.

I’m so grateful to every person who trusted us with their story and chose to spend the evening with us. I hope you left feeling a little less alone, knowing that you and your baby are so loved.

And once again, a huge thank you to our community sponsors who helped us make this night possible. Because of your generosity, we were able to create a meaningful evening for these families and remind them just how seen and supported they are.

Sponsored Play is BACK! ☀️

We’re SO excited to bring back our Sponsored Days of Play! Our first one will be October 8th from 12–5 PM, and thanks to Miller Family Insurance, your kiddos get to come play for FREE that afternoon!

One of our favorite things about these days is getting to see local businesses pour right back into local families. We’re so grateful to have community partners who believe in what we’re doing at Sunshine & want to help make a fun afternoon out a little easier for Havasu families.

CAR SEAT QUESTION OF THE DAY 🚗☀️

When do I move my baby out of their infant car seat & what comes next?

Most babies will outgrow their infant car seat sometime around their first birthday, but there’s no specific age when you have to switch! Some babies will outgrow theirs sooner & others can use theirs longer.

Your baby has outgrown their infant seat when they reach ANY of the limits set by the manufacturer:
• Maximum weight
• Maximum height
• The seat’s fit limit, commonly when there is less than 1 inch of space above their head

Whichever comes first!

You also don’t have to wait until they completely outgrow it. A lot of parents switch earlier simply because carrying around an infant seat with a growing baby gets heavy!

So what comes next?

Usually a convertible or all-in-one car seat, still rear facing! You’re moving from the removable infant carrier to a larger seat that stays installed in the vehicle.

Moving out of the infant seat does not mean it’s time to forward face. Keep them rear facing until they reach the rear-facing limits of their new seat.

Every seat is a little different, so always check the manual for your specific car seat’s limits & fit requirements or shoot me a message and I’m happy to help you find the perfect seat for your child, car, and price point. 🤍

It’s Child Passenger Safety Week, so over the next few days, I’ll be sharing some helpful tips and tricks regarding Car Seat Safety!

One of the questions I get asked most as a CPST is, “When should I turn them around?” And the answer is usually later than you think!

Rear facing is the safest way for young children to ride because in a crash, the car seat supports their head, neck & spine and distributes crash forces across their entire back. That’s why we recommend keeping kids rear facing until they reach the rear facing height OR weight limit of their specific seat.

And yes, their legs can bend, cross, hang over the sides or do whatever weird toddler thing they decide is comfortable. Leg length alone is not a reason to turn them forward facing.

Our 3rd Annual Wave of Light is almost here. 🤍

Every October 15th, we gather to remember & honor the babies and children who are no longer here with us, while surrounding their families with love, support & community.

This year, we’ll be gathering for a seated dinner with table crafts & conversation cards, a few special stations throughout the evening, and self-care gifts for our families to take home.

As always, we are looking for sponsors to help us make this evening possible! Our biggest need this year is a dinner sponsor to help us provide a meal for our families. We are also looking for businesses & individuals who would like to help through monetary donations, gift cards or items for our take home gifts. THANK YOU! 🤍

Our first Be the Sunshine Diaper Drive is officially over, and we are so grateful to everyone who donated, shared our posts & helped us spread the word!

This was such a great way to kick off our new Essentials Bank and start building a stock of supplies to have on hand when a family in our community needs a little extra help.

Although the diaper drive is over, we will continue accepting diapers, wipes, baby food & formula year round! Our hope is simple: when somebody needs it, we have it to give.
