Each year on August 14, National Navajo Code Talkers Day honors the contributions of the Native Americans who brought their unique abilities to the World War II effort. The day also highlights their impact on U.S. code and the Native American language that made it possible.

One of the earlier accomplishments of the Havasu Freedom Foundation was our 2009 invitation and then hosting of the Traveling Vietnam Wall, and associated Veteran's exhibits. The owners of the wall were extremely impressed with the whole week of ceremonies, honors, parades, respectful events, and huge supportive crowds. We were called "The Most Patriotic Town in America".
Patriotism seems under stress in these divisive political times, but Lake Havasu City can still rise above politics and appreciate that many good people, on both sides, can come together to support a well meaning project that celebrates American Freedoms.

On March 28-30, 2009, the Havasu Freedom Foundation (havasumemorial...

Re: Answers to the prior week's questions.
The Havasu Freedom Foundation (HFF) is an ALL VOLUNTEER NON-PARTISAN 501c3 organization, founded in late 2007, with the objectives of NEVER requesting taxpayer funding.
The objectives included installing a donor paid engraved brick Memorial Walkway, eventually connecting two bridges.
ALL NET FUNDS RAISED will be donated to local charities, student scholarships, and Veterans programs.
The HFF partners with the London Bridge Rotary Club and the Marine Corps League #757 to help distribute funds the the community.
The HFF agreed to support the efforts of the Charlie Kirk Memorial, because it was an appropriate location next to the existing FREEDOM 250 sections of the Havasu Memorial Walkway, and because it was expected to help raise charitable funds for our city. (It was NEVER designed as any political statement.)
The small parcel of land was unused and vacant.
There are already THOUSANDS of Memorial bricks and dozens of History Stones along the walkway, most of which honor or memorialize people who have supported our nation's Freedoms. These sections include:
Wounded Warriors
Blue/Gold Star Mothers and Families,
First Responders
WWII Navajo Code Talkers
Havasu Pioneers
Health Care Heroes
The Kabul 13 Soldiers
Educators and Graduates
Constitutional History
Havasu's Car Clubs
and Multiple Special Veteran's Sections.

Despite the unwelcomed HATE SPEECH against this Memorial, the HFF truly appreciates the efforts of Charlie Kirk as another person who also supported FREE SPEECH, EQUAL RIGHTS, OPEN DIALOG, and Charitable Giving.
NON-Partisan volunteers are always welcome to assist in accomplishing our objectives. (Hate mongers are not expected to volunteer.)
Sadly, multiple security measures will be employed to prevent vandalism, and unfortunately these costs will reduce the funds available for local charitable giving.
PLEASE visit the www.havasumemorialwalkway.org for more information about our progress and objectives, and to make any donations to the walkway or the newest addition.
Thank you.

In response to some questions about the upcoming Charlie Kirk Memorial, this is from a spokesperson:
"Charlie was a true believer of free speech and constantly maintained that more dialogue was needed to bridge the divide in American society. He always permitted people who disagreed with him to debate him in a fair and equal manner, and his foremost objective of such debates was that such respectful dialogue, even if he failed to convince his audience or they failed to convince him, would increase understanding and mutual respect in American society.

And for this heartfelt belief in preserving American unity, he was senselessly murdered for the “crime” of speaking his mind. The memorial is a tribute to the mission he fought and died for: that free speech is a cornerstone of the great American Experiment, and must always be preserved. Far from being “divisive”, his memorial will be a symbol of unity for all Americans, so that all can embrace the fight to preserve free speech in our Republic."

The Legacy of Charlie Kirk, a True Freedom Fighter...

Charlie Kirk was in many respects a true 21st-century freedom fighter. His inspiring life was taken at just 31, when many of his contemporaries are still embarking upon their careers.
