He was also an alcoholic & Addict and went through a dark period leading to a tragic su***de attempt. At the time, he didn't want to accept the fact that he had epilepsy. Now 18 months sober/clean, and having gone through a life changing journey with rehabilitation and still in the recovery community, he is not only grateful for his second chance in life, but for his three kids whom he continues t

o see and continues to remain involved with the epilepsy community. As Jonny states, “Epilepsy has changed my life for the good in me.” In the last 3 years Jonny's “Team Barton” has raised over $8,000 for The Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego. Since January Jonny's seizures have been uncontrolled due to a car accident. He has been in the care of several doctors and hoping for a resolution soon. Even though he takes these seizures good instead of bad, he still continues to stay positive. Jonny also manages a sober living house and has close ties in the recovery community as well he is an ordained Recover Pastor. "I stay close to the ones that support me and also share the same ambition do staying sober & clean. said Jonny. Team Barton is about spreading Epilepsy Awareness to our local communities and educating friends and family about this condition. . Team Barton will also be attending the “Walk to End Epilepsy 2014” 5k for the Sharon Walk.Ride.Run for the San Diego foundation. If we can get more sponsors and Team mates I believe in us that we can achieve this goal! Riverside County needs more awareness and Team Barton is going to strive to bring it alive!! We are here to spread information about Epilepsy. We support research to finding a cure for Epilepsy and Seizures. We have hope, and always will have hope!!! More than 300 thousand Youths and Teens in the United States are living with Epilepsy and 45 thousand new cases each year. Therefore, raising awareness about the realities of Epilepsy is the single most important factor in removing the stigma and fear associated with this condition. I don’t know about you, but with my Epilepsy isn’t too fond of bright flashes and loud noises. 4th of July for me usually contains me staying in during the evening and watching fireworks on TV unless I’m somewhere that I can see from a good distance.
