Dogs are man's best friend, but it is not always the other way
around. The Little Red Dog was founded in memory of a little red
American Pit Bull Terrier who did not make it. If you are familiar
with the Michael Vick dog fighting case chronicled in The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick's Dogs and Their Tale of Rescue and Redemption. The Little Red Dog was brutally beaten to death by Vick and his cronies

because she had the audacity to not to want
to fight. The Little Red Dog fights for all the dogs, red, blue, tan, white, brown, black and all colors in between. We do not discriminate against ANY breed; that's
because we are a real rescue, and we will help as many animals as we can. Our hope that some day all of
them make it out, but most of all, we will never forget the Little Red Dog and
many others who did not.

Happy National Dog Walker Appreciation Day! 🐾

Today we’re giving a huge shoutout to our amazing volunteer dog walkers who go the extra mile—literally! ❤️

Regular exercise is so important for our dogs’ physical and mental health. Walks help burn energy, reduce stress, provide enrichment, build confidence, and give our dogs a much-needed break from their kennels or foster routines.

Every walk, every sniff, and every adventure makes a difference. Thank you to our incredible volunteers for keeping our dogs happy, healthy, and loved while they wait for their forever homes. 🐕❤️

🚨 URGENT FOSTER NEEDED – MALE GERMAN SHEPHERD IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 🚨

We were contacted about a German Shepherd living in heartbreaking conditions. He is currently being kept chained beneath a van with a chain only about 3 feet long, with very little room to move and barely any shade. He has already injured his front shoulder after becoming stuck underneath the van.

People are working to get him out of this situation, but we need a committed foster in order to help.

🏡 What he desperately needs is a safe foster home

This boy deserves more than a life on the end of a chain. He deserves a cool, safe place to rest, room to move, and the chance to finally know what it feels like to be cared for.

Two years ago today, I lost Tank. ❤️🌈

I don't really know how it's already been two years, because there are days when it still feels like yesterday.

Those of you who have been with TLRD for a while know what Tank meant to me. He wasn't just one of our dogs.

He was my dog.

My heart dog.

And I still miss him every single day.

When Tank passed, something happened that I will never forget. This community wrapped its arms around me and, in just a short time, donated nearly $10,000 in his memory.

You turned the loss of one very loved dog into second chances for other dogs.

I've been thinking about that this week as we've begun our most ambitious campaign yet; $75K in 30 Days campaign.

Because every dog we save has the chance to become someone's Tank.

Someone's best friend.
Someone's family.
Someone they'll still be missing two years after they're gone.

That's why we keep saying yes.

THE SUNDAY SCOOP with CLEO! 🐾🍦

This week’s scoop is all about Cleo, a sweet girl who has been waiting far too long for someone to choose her. ❤️

Cleo was born in 2018 and is 58 pounds of pure love. She was adopted as a puppy and sadly returned four years later. Despite everything, Cleo hasn’t given up on finding her forever family.

She’s a cattle dog mix who is fully housetrained, enjoys the company of other dogs, and even did well on her cat test! She’d love a home with a canine buddy, but she’d also be perfectly happy with a cozy bed, plenty of love, and a human to call her own.

Cleo loves her foster home, but we'd love a forever home for her even more. 🏡❤️

We’ve been asking for months for someone to foster Charlotte, and she can’t understand why no one has followed through. 💔

We’ve received a few foster applications, gotten our hopes up…and then they ghosted us.😢

Charlotte deserves better. She has been waiting for a home for over THREE YEARS, and she is truly a GREAT dog! ❤️

Charlotte is cat friendly, loves her walks, is affectionate and playful. She does need to be the only dog in the home, but she has so much love to give and is more than ready for a family of her own.

Please help us keep our promise to Charlotte. She needs someone to step up and say, “You can come home with me.”
