Did you know this?
When referring to someone who has killed themselves, it’s better to say they have “died by su***de” instead of saying they “committed su***de”. This small change in language has a huge impact in saving lives!
Research has shown that the term “committed” has a negative connotation associated with it, making people who have suicidal thoughts feel guilty for how they are feeling. If they feel like they will be greeting with shame instead of comfort and understanding when reaching out for help, they may never take the necessary steps in getting help.
If you’ve used the phrase “committed su***de”, it’s okay! Safe language is something we have to learn about. Moving forward, if you are talking about someone who has lost their life to su***de, try talking about it without the harsh word of “committed”. You never know who around you will notice and appreciate your care in safe language! 💕

Today, we beautifully adorned Stacie's gravesite, celebrating the joy of spring and honoring her upcoming birthday next month. As night falls, the radiant Cross, Angel, and Flowers will shine brightly in her memory, filling her space with love and light. Although she is deeply missed, every moment reminds me of her vibrant presence, and I find solace in cherished memories of her. She is truly loved and remembered. ***desucks

She had golden curls, a laugh that lit up every room, and a smile she used to hide her pain. Her name was Stacie Annette. And she was a true gift to this world. She tried to tell us. We didn’t know. There were signs. We didn’t see.

That is the truth so many families carry — not guilt, but grief wrapped around the question “what if we had known how to hear her?”

My niece created staciereestargazer and I created Stacie’s Stargazers because her story doesn’t end with loss. It continues every time someone chooses to stay. Every time someone shows their scars instead of hiding them. Every time a family learns to truly listen.

🎵 We just released a song called Stacie — written in her honor, in her memory, and for everyone still fighting quietly.

If you are struggling, please tell us. Show us your scars. You are priceless and can never be replaced.

🌟 Listen. Share. And if this song touches you — pass it on. Someone in your life may need to hear it today.

When it comes to preventing su***de and supporting people who’ve lost loved ones, have their own lived experience or have been affected by su***de, community means everything. 💙

This , we want to remind you that it's through community that we gain strength and become greater than the sum of our parts. Isolation is a risk factor for su***de; and community a protective factor: a useful and lasting way of strengthening our own mental health while being there for one another.

We are a community dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by su***de: because when we think and act and feel as a community, we ensure no one feels alone. This May and beyond, discover how powerful we can be together. Through community. 🫂✨

What a productive day we had at the Capital for Behavioral Health Day. We had the opportunity to meet with a representative from the Governor’s office, as well as several senators and representatives. It’s all about advocating for su***de awareness. Everyone in attendance was on a unique journey, with different stories to share, but we were all united by a common purpose. Su***de prevention is not a path I envisioned for myself, but it is where life has led me.
