In Loving Memory of Mr. John Adolphe Poche’ Jr.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of one of our very own, longtime SWLA District Senior Games athletes, Mr. John Adolphe Poche’ Jr.

Since the inception of the Calcasieu Council on Aging’s involvement with the SWLA District Senior Games, Mr. Poche’ has been a cherished participant. As one of our 2023 Senior Olympians, he proudly competed in the javelin, discus, and shot put—always demonstrating determination, strength, and true sportsmanship.

From the very moment we met him, Mr. Poche’ warmly embraced our community, just as we embraced him. He brought joy, dedication, and inspiration to our events, and it was truly a privilege to watch him compete with such passion at such a young age of heart and spirit.

He leaves behind a lasting legacy within our Senior Games family, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

The Calcasieu Council on Aging and the SWLA District Senior Games extend our sincerest and heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and friends during this difficult time.

Forever in our hearts,
Your SWLA District Senior Games Family

Day three of the Senior Games concluded successfully with an impressive display of track and field events. The day's events underscored a valuable lesson: that adversity should not impose limitations, but rather serve as a catalyst to push forward. Mr. Butch Ryan exemplified this spirit, achieving first place in all his field events despite competing blind. His accomplishment serves as a testament to perseverance. All participants are commended for their efforts. On behalf of the Senior Games, thank you for your generous support and commitment. We are truly grateful to each and every one of you.
Your contributions make a meaningful difference. Without your support, we would not be able to provide the experiences and student/athlete scholarships (McNeese's student athlete) for the senior athletes who participate in the Senior Games. Your partnership helps us celebrate healthy aging, competition, and community for older adults across our region.
Thank you for believing in our mission and investing in our senior athletes. Your generosity does not go unnoticed, and we sincerely appreciate all you do.
