54 years ago, an assassin’s bullet took the life Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. On April 4, 1968, Dr. King was fatally shot on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, forever changing the landscape of the nation’s civil rights movement.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Brunch has and will continue to be a major reminder in our community of not only Dr Kings legacy but our own legacy we are creating daily in SWLA. We have so much to celebrate and yet we still have ways to travel, however the MLK Coalition is excited to see us all come together no matter the odds we face to celebrate eachother. Here is the recap from the 38th Annual MLK Bruch highlighting our Drum Major Award Honorees. Special thanks to all the donors, sponsors, and all dignitaries who attended. We really appreciate your leadership and support in our community. Finally thank you to our SWLA community we could not do it without you.

We enjoyed attending the “Carrying the Dream” Dr Martin Luther King Jr hearse exhibit opening ceremony this evening. This is a time to reflect on Dr King’s dream and how we can be heirs to that dream.
