RICH CHAPMAN IS HEADED TO CURAÇAO!
Congratulations to LBYC sailor Rich Chapman, winner of the 2026 Sunfish Midwest Regional #2 and qualifier for the Sunfish World Championship in Curaçao!
Saturday put the fleet to the test, with variable, strong winds and rolling northerly waves creating challenging conditions on the racecourse. By Sunday, conditions had moderated, making for a more typical day of Sunfish racing on Lake Michigan.
After seven races, Rich came out on top of a competitive fleet, finishing the regatta with 13 points and securing the World Championship qualifying spot.
LBYC was also proudly represented throughout the fleet by Scott Schappe, Pierce McCall, Gretchen Seymour, Matthew Glover, Douglas Warren, Leland Brode, Robert Stelling, Scott Diamond, Louis Gordon, Janet Murphy Ryan, Ryan Bastianelli, Shapoor Guzder and Arthur Haggerty. Congratulations to all of our LBYC sailors on a great weekend of racing!
We are incredibly proud to have one of our own representing Lake Bluff Yacht Club at the World Championship in Curaçao!
A huge thank you to all the sailors who joined us for the weekend, as well as our race committee, volunteers, and everyone who helped make the regatta possible both on and off the water.
