Happy New Year. The Fire & EMS association had our first meeting of 2023 tonight. We have a lot of great things in store for this year (ideas for fundraising, etc). The community AEDs are in and will be installed in the parks in the Spring. We want to give a huge thanks to the Lake Ann Lions Club for offering to cover the maintenance costs of the AEDs (replacement batteries and pads). They voted at their meeting to give us an annual donation, which will be allocated to cover those costs as needed.

AED fundraiser update! This week we received endorsements from the Almira Township Board and Lake Ann Village Council to place 3 community AED’s in the following locations:

▪️Lake Ann Burnett Park
▪️Almira Township Park
▪️Almira Township Lakefront Park

Last night the association voted to purchase 3 LIFEPAK CR2 Defibrillators and 3 outdoor/weatherproof AED boxes. These will be installed in the Spring of 2023. Why the CR2? We did a lot of research and the CR2 is designed for public use and has Wifi capability which will allow us to connect the AED’s to the iPad in our ambulance for maintenance alerts, and in the event that an AED is being used, we can connect to the AED while responding to the scene and virtually see if any shocks have been administered and what rhythm the patient is in.

These will solely be maintained by the Fire/EMS association.

Safety has always been a top priority at Cherryland and we are so excited to have the opportunity to support the Almira Township Fire & EMS Association 's Community AED Project with a special donation to help them purchase and install AED's at the Almira Township Park, Burnett Park, and Almira Beach.

Y’all Yeti for this!? This was put on hold for some time and we are finally doing it.

We have TWO Yeti Tundra 35 coolers that will be filled with goodies, and raffled off. One cooler will be camping themed, the other will be tailgate themed (this one will include alcohol and you must be 21 or older to choose this one— we are still filling this one with goodies).

We are selling 250 tickets starting TODAY. Tickets are $20 each. To obtain a ticket, stop into the fire department, send us a private message or get ahold of any fire department member.

Drawings will be November 10th and 11th, the first winner will get to choose which cooler they want. Updates will be posted here. Stay tuned! 😎

The Almira Fire & EMS Association had our regular monthly meeting last night. We have a few items to share.

(1) The Annual Halloween Trunk-Or-Treat event is on the schedule for October 31st! Stay tuned for an event posting for that 🎃👻

(2) The YETI Cooler raffle which has been on hold for some time, is coming soon. We plan on selling raffle tickets at the Halloween party once we get our raffle license from the state. Those who wanted to purchase a ticket in 2021, will be contacted. More info to come.

(3) The Fire & EMS Association is always brainstorming fundraising ideas that benefit the Almira Township/Lake Ann community. Starting at the Halloween event, we will start fundraising for a community AED project. Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. We would like to raise funds to purchase 3 community AEDs to place at Almira Township Park, Almira Township Beach, and Burnett Park. This project will cost roughly $4,000-5,000. More info to come on this as well.
