Our DNA runs deep into Mother Earth just as her nurishment runs deep in ours. We must stay mindful, daily, at the importance of respect, honor, care, and compassion for her, because it is a reflection of ourselves.

Take an extra step today to use less plastics, fuel, AI, non-biodegradable materials, and other earth harming contents. Pick up trash around your community and be mindful of your footsteps.

Yesterday, the Cherokee Lady Braves made history. With a commanding 76–15 victory over Pamlico County, these young women secured their third straight NCHSAA State Championship, an incredible accomplishment built on hard work, discipline, and heart. The excitement and pride across our community yesterday were overwhelming. Everywhere you looked, people were celebrating these young women and the incredible season they’ve had.

Winning one state title is an extraordinary achievement. Winning three in a row places this team in a league of its own and firmly secures its place in Cherokee sports history. What makes this victory even more inspiring is the work behind it: the early mornings, the long practices, the sacrifices, and the commitment these student-athletes have shown not only to the game, but to one another. They have represented Cherokee with pride, humility, and determination every step of the way.

I want to congratulate each of these young women, their coaches, their families, and everyone who has supported them throughout this remarkable journey. Your hard work has paid off in a way that our entire community can celebrate. These Lady Braves have set a powerful example for the next generation of Cherokee athletes who will follow in their footsteps.
