This past week, Brave Heart Society hosted a Wopida Luncheon for the Victory at Little Big Horn/Greasy Grass 150th Celebration.

It was such a beautiful time, with powerful words of experience from respected leaders of our Ihanktonwan Nation. We are grateful to all those who showed up and to those who were there in spirit. Thank you to those who spoke, and thank you to our elected leaders who attended.

This event was relished together over a wonderful lunch catered by the Four Directions Restaurant. We all shared laughter, tears, and inspiration. We watched a powerful video that we are excited to share with everyone.

We ended the luncheon in ceremony with corn balls made by our own Kunsi Sharon. We will continue to carry the spirit of victory and resistance throughout all of life’s challenges.

For the past few week Brave Heart Society has proudly worked with Mahpiya, Ky, Syrianna, Troy, and Jeffery cleaning elders yards. Whether rain or shine, they cleaned, mowed, hauled, and most best of all visited our wonderful Ihanktonwan Elders.

We are so proud of our young adults and youth coming together with Brave Heart Society to help clean up our elders yards.

We appreciate how polite, helpful, and hard working this group has been. May they be blessed as they move on to college and start back to school locally!

Last week, President Trump issued a proclamation attempting to revoke Bears Ears National Monument and terminate the Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Commission, which was established to help guide the monument's management through Tribal leadership.

The Antiquities Act authorizes presidents to establish national monuments, not eliminate them. NARF will continue defending Bears Ears and fighting to ensure these protections remain in place for Tribal Nations and future generations.

As Cante Ohitika Okodakiciye celebrates the 30th year of Isnati, we share these photos in celebration with the families who attended and the young women who went through ceremony.

These photos are for us to congratulate the girls and acknowledge the amazing work of their mothers and families in ushering them into womanhood.

All photos are post-Isnati; no photos of sacred ceremony are posted, out of respect for our cultural ways.

We thank all those who attended and those who helped. As this is a coming-of-age ceremony, we also know it’s a full family effort.

As we continue to celebrate this year’s camp, we are excited for next year! Hope to see you there!
