FUND 42

FUND 42 Keoni Phellmen Tafuna, better known as "Deedee" to most and "Shreky" to his closest friends, was a Senior at Kahuku High & Intermediate School (KHIS).

On November 22, 2010, at the age of 17, Deedee's life tragically ended in su***de. Through a perpetual scholarship fund in his name, they would like to honor Deedee's life and legacy. The three purposes of the fund are to provide:

(1) scholarships to graduating Seniors,
(2) counseling for youth, and
(3) support for the AVID program. AVID is an internationally recognized college preparatory progra

m that targets students in the Academic Middle who have a desire to attend a 4 year college. Deedee was an AVID student since the 7th grade. In football, Deedee proudly wore the family number 42 and thus, the name Fund 42.

Thank you to all those in attendance to FUND42 FEST last night and especially all those who made this event possible. This is just a testament of the awesome community we live in and we were truly humbled by the huge turnout.

Raffle tickets are being sold for $1. Win an iPad, Bike, Trip for 2 to Las Vegas plus many other prizes. Drawings will take place at the Fund42 Fest on Monday Memorial Day May 30th from 7pm-9pm at the Kahuku Football Field. Please comment if you want tickets. Ofa Lahi!!

***FUND42 UPDATE***
We have received close to 50 Fund 42 scholarship applications from Kahuku C/O 2011 Seniors and are very pleased with the response. We are narrowing down the applications and will be announcing the recipients of each category on graduation night. Thank you to all those that applied!

We are having a Fund 42 Fest Monday May 30th (Memorial Day)
where: Kahuku Football Field
Time: 5-9pm
We will have food booths, Polynesian Arts and Crafts, Entertainment and more!
we will also be selling Raffle tickets, which are $1 a ticket. Raffle drawings will be held from 7- 9pm. Some prizes included are: Bike,Apple iPad,Trip for 2 to Vegas (subject to terms, conditions and black-out dates)and more!!!
