Our hearts are with Lāhaina today as we make a full year since the fires ❤️ our p**e are with the ‘ohanas that have lost families and are still recovering and rebuilding through these times.

A special message of aloha to Uncle Sol Kaho’ohalahala and Ekolu Lindsey who both lost their homes and still continue to aloha ‘āina and carry on kuleana.

We welcomed the Moondance Adventures group of 9th graders from the East Coast. Moondance Adventures believes that new experiences can and should be found everywhere and everyday; that the most impactful ones require getting outside of their comfort zones and away from their hometowns. Ekolu, Lisa and Puanani did just that today-got them out of their comfort zones with working in the hot sun, in the dry river bed, removing invasive species. Ekolu shared the history of Honokowai Valley and la'au lapa'au. And while the kids touched the pohaku, Lisa shared that our ancestors built that wall 800 years ago so their hands were making contact with them. Some of them could feel the mana of this special place.

HE ALIʻI KA ʻĀINA; HE KAUWĀ KE KANAKA
The land is a chief; man is its servant.
Land has no need for man, but man needs the land and works it for a livelihood.

He aliʻi ka ʻāina, the land is a chief, he kauwā ke kanaka, the human is a servant. This ʻōlelo noʻeau is a reminder of the kuleana (responsibility, privilege) we have as people to serve ʻāina, as well as the reassurance that in return ʻāina will care for, feed, and provide for our needs.

Mahalo to our Aloha Friday warriors from Leilani's On the Beach! Their generous donation of time and hard work helped to stabilize ancient rock walls. "Getting out in our communities to support the people and organizations
making a difference is what is means to be a part of the T S family." And this TS ohana sure made a difference today! At the end of the day we all enjoyed delicious sandwiches from Leilani's under a canopy of kukui nut trees.
