Have you met Spike?

Spike is a tortoise who was a rescue, and now lives at the Imua Discovery Garden. He is a therapy animal that helps Maui’s kids! 🐢💚

Therapy animals reduce stress and anxiety. They can help children who have a hard time communicating, as it can be easier to speak when an animal is present. Another huge benefit of therapy animals is the way they can teach empathy— caring for an animal can help children learn to recognize and respond to another being’s needs and feelings.

Therapy animals: a surprising and very real action for kids!

Getting real about ocean safety last weekend at Paddle Imua with Kahākūkahi Ocean Academy

Paddle Imua and Kahākūkahi Ocean Academy teamed up last weekend to bring ocean safety to the keiki of Paddle Imua!

Paddle Imua is an inclusive ocean racing event that raises essential funds for Camp Imua. Camp Imua is a recreational summer camp for Maui’s children with disabilities.

Mahalo to Zane Kekoa Schweitzer for leading this fun + engaging Ocean Camp and to Kahākūkahi Ocean Academy for the original edit and audio of this video❤️
