URGENT MESSAGE
Dear Friends of THE LAST RESORT & THE PHOENIX COLLECTION :
This coming Friday, November 17, there will be a court hearing that may very well decide my fate, the future of The Last Resort, and the repository of the aged pu-erh teas in The Phoenix Collection.
The Receiver is advocating immediate demolition of 2 of the 37 hand-built structures and to discuss whether I should be allowed to remain on the property.
Last Monday, 25 people from the County, Department of Fish and Game, Army Corps of Engineers, attorneys, architects, structural engineers and even the Judge—Hon. Paul Haakenson came for a tour of the property. As you might easily infer, the survival of The Last Resort is at a critical moment.
If you have the time, I’d much appreciate if you can come to the Court hearing in a show of Support for The Last Resort.
When and where:
Friday, November 17, 1:30 pm, Courtroom E, at the Civic Center in San Rafael.
These last 45 years have been a TRUE LABOR OF LOVE. Stone by stone, hand by hand I’ve tried to create a living model of sustainability and a place of beauty and calm. My hope is that future generations might come, enjoy and be inspired.
I wish to thank you all for your continuing support, especially to the neighbors: the late Walter Scott, Jean Berensmeier, and John Torrey (who has given his all in advocating for historic landmark status as well as keeping my spirit strong).
Thank you,
David Lee Hoffman, CDO
