URGENT MESSAGE

Dear Friends of THE LAST RESORT & THE PHOENIX COLLECTION :

This coming Friday, November 17, there will be a court hearing that may very well decide my fate, the future of The Last Resort, and the repository of the aged pu-erh teas in The Phoenix Collection.

The Receiver is advocating immediate demolition of 2 of the 37 hand-built structures and to discuss whether I should be allowed to remain on the property.

Last Monday, 25 people from the County, Department of Fish and Game, Army Corps of Engineers, attorneys, architects, structural engineers and even the Judge—Hon. Paul Haakenson came for a tour of the property. As you might easily infer, the survival of The Last Resort is at a critical moment.

If you have the time, I’d much appreciate if you can come to the Court hearing in a show of Support for The Last Resort.

When and where:

Friday, November 17, 1:30 pm, Courtroom E, at the Civic Center in San Rafael.

These last 45 years have been a TRUE LABOR OF LOVE. Stone by stone, hand by hand I’ve tried to create a living model of sustainability and a place of beauty and calm. My hope is that future generations might come, enjoy and be inspired.

I wish to thank you all for your continuing support, especially to the neighbors: the late Walter Scott, Jean Berensmeier, and John Torrey (who has given his all in advocating for historic landmark status as well as keeping my spirit strong).

Thank you,
David Lee Hoffman, CDO

We brought a few new heichas down from the caves to the tea museum last weekend. A couple of liubaos, a several varieties from Hunan, and another bamboo shou pu'erh. Drop by on Saturday between 10am-2pm to take a look and taste these teas. Many other teas available to be tasted (and purchased if desired): from liuan to sheng and shou puerh to fresh spring teas like pre-Qing Ming Green Mist and Wuyi Black. Too many to name them all! Drop by, say hi, and enjoy this unique opportunity to learn about and taste teas not often seen in this part of the world.

The Tea Museum in Lagunitas is still coming into form, but we are there every Saturday from 10am-2pm tasting a wide variety of pu'erhs and heichas. There are also a few fresh teas on hand: High Grade Phoenix Oolong, Honey Orchid Black, Meizan Green, along with some others.

There are some inexpensive tea wares available as well; and all of the preparation tables are discounted 50%.

Stop by on your way out to the coast and taste a few teas rarely seen in this part of the world.
