American Legion Post 281 and its affiliated American Legion Riders Chapter 281, Laguna Niguel, CA, have been carrying out the mission of supporting Veterans, their families and the local community since 2013. egion, which was chartered by Congress as a mutual-help war-time Veteran’s organization, has since broadened its horizons, serving the local community. The Legion Riders, started in 1993 at Garden City, Michigan, provides support to military families with motorcycle escorts and fundraising. The Legion Riders is a group comprised of Legionnaire, Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion (SAL) motorcycle enthusiasts, dedicated to the American Legion's ideals of patriotism, community service and good citizenship. All 50 states have rider chapters and there are 26 chapters in southern California. Legion Riders Chapter 281, Laguna Niguel was initially formed August 3, 2013, when the chapter's temporary charter was granted by the Department of California, American Legion Riders.
