We love connecting with writers from near and far!

Repost from

A group of Third Street Writers met with visiting poet Oyvind Rangoy at Jedidiah Coffee in Laguna Beach today to explore the possibilities of participating as visiting artists at Rangoya International, the cultural center he runs off the west coast of Norway. Married to an Estonian translator, Oyvind divides his time between his homes in Estonia and Norway. He’s headed up the west coast soon to connect with a Seattle poet who attended one of his residencies last year. “God tur,” Oyvind!

Join Marrie Stone for an unforgettable conversation with Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winner Adam Johnson, author of The Wayfinder. Thursday, February 19th, at 5:30pm - 7:00pm. Ticket Price: $40 (includes a copy of the book). Link to purchase in comments.

Adam Johnson won the Pulitzer Prize in 2013 for his novel, The Orphan Master’s Son. He won the National Book Award in 2015 for his story collection, Fortune Smiles. He also authored Parasites Like Us and Emporium. Every novel and story is unlike anything that’s come before it. His latest, The Wayfinder, is no exception. Set over 1,000 years ago in the South Pacific, it weaves together the stories of two families who inhabit two islands and their opposing views of the world in both timeless and timely ways.

Evoking the grandeur of Wolf Hall and the splendor of Shōgun, Adam Johnson conjures oral history, restores the natural world, and locates what’s best in humanity. Toweringly ambitious and breathtakingly immersive, The Wayfinder is an instant classic.
