Thursdays Art Walk was founded as an independent, community-serving, non-profit with the mission to promote Laguna Beach as a leading destination and community of fine art galleries. The organization is committed to supporting local artists and galleries, serving the community by cultivating an appreciation for the arts. Since its founding, FTAW member galleries, arts organizations, sponsors, and grantors create a unique fine arts experience for the Laguna Beach community and cultural visitors, and provide local lodging establishments with a monthly arts event to offer their guests. First Thursdays Art Walk’s mission is to promote art education and appreciation in Laguna Beach, the leading year-round destination and community of fine art galleries. We are a 501-c(3) non-profit organization committed to supporting our member galleries; serving the community by cultivating an appreciation for the arts; and providing a high quality educational experience for art students through the annual Mentoring Program with Laguna College of Art + Design. Since 1998, First Thursdays Art Walk member galleries and sponsors have benefited from a co-operative effort in providing trolley service during First Thursdays Art Walk; by advertising in local and national media; and through creating a unique cultural experience for all First Thursdays Art Walk participants.

PRESS RELEASE and Event Center is hosting a preview showing of Jerome Gastaldi’s Exhibition “Finding Light” at the November 7th art walk in Laguna Beach. Gastaldi is an artist, former museum director, and Laguna Beach resident. He works at his Villa con Cuore studio and grounds in Fallbrook, Ca. in North San Diego county during the week. The exhibition includes his paintings, sculpture, and films, as well as a selection of original etchings and aquatints from Francisco Goya’s “Capricious” series; created during the Spanish Inquisition that parallel much of Gastaldi’s work in the exhibition. This is the first public viewing of Gastaldi's “Bridging” concept which is based on the power of art when merged with film and video designed to be disseminated through electronic media, such as cell phones, computers, televisions, and social media. He believes art will be seen and experienced by the broadest audiences through “Bridging” in the future. Teri Martin, art critic and historian with The Getty Research Institute will elaborate on Gastaldi’s concept “Bridging”.
