We are proud to announce that this year’s STS Foundation Global School Award has been presented to Sullivan East High School

The STS Foundation Global School Award was created to recognize the schools that go above and beyond in supporting our mission of fostering mutual understanding and empowering young people through cultural exchange. Through strong partnerships with American high schools, we are able to provide students with life-changing experiences that help shape the global citizens of tomorrow.

This past year, Sullivan East High School welcomed 10 exchange students and received three outstanding nominations for this recognition. The school consistently goes above and beyond to ensure exchange students feel welcomed, supported, and fully immersed in the true American high school experience. From building meaningful connections to encouraging participation in school and community life, the dedication shown by the staff, students, and community reflects the very heart of cultural exchange.

We are incredibly grateful to Sullivan East High School for their commitment to international understanding and for creating an environment where students from around the world can learn, grow, and thrive.

Today is Memorial Day, a day where we honor and mourn the U.S. military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces. You're likely to see a number of American flags spread across cemeteries which are home to those who we have lost.

Sharing the natural beauty of your community with a student from another country is a great way to show them all the natural diversity the USA has to offer. Not to mention, hosting an exchange student helps you develop a new appreciation for all your hometown has to offer as you see it through a new set of eyes.

The school year is coming to a close, and with that comes the bittersweet realization that we have to say "see you later" to the STS Foundation Exchange Student Class of 2026. Together with their host families, friends, and everyone they've met, they have made a lifetime of memories that they will take back with them to their home countries. Their suitcases may be full of souvenirs, but their hearts will be full of the love and kindness they received from everyday Americans just like you.

Thank you to our amazing host families like Lori here, who opened their hearts and homes to our exchange students this year. We know your heart is equally full, and it may also be breaking a little bit as you see them off. But just know without you, none of their dreams would have come true. And like we always say, it's not "goodbye," but rather, "see you later!"

We are so proud to share that one of our students, Eduardo from Portugal, had his artwork “Vovo’” earned Gold in the 2D Art category in the 45th Anniversary edition of the Crowder Quill literary-art magazine!

We love seeing our students discover and build their talents while here in the USA, as well as get opportunities they otherwise would not have in their home countries, like having their art featured in a local publication! A huge thank you goes out to his school, Carl Junction School, for encouraging and celebrating Eduardo and his accomplishments!

It's hard to believe the 2025-2026 school year is soon coming to a close, but we could not be more grateful for all the memories and connections our host families and exchange students have made over the last ten months.

Students are attending their end of year orientations, getting ready to return to their home countries and continue their education and aspirations. They will take with them a better understanding of Americans, our lives here in the USA, and a wide world view. They will take with them a lifetime of memories, many souvenirs, and the love their American families and friends have shown them.

None of this would be possible without our amazing host families all across the country who have opened their hearts and homes to these students. Through their kindness and generosity, they have taught their exchange students life lessons and a new way of seeing things. In return, exchange students have shared with everyone they've met a new culture, a new tradition, and a new perspective. This is what exchange is all about, and the best part is that we get to do it all again this coming school year!
