Linda is a talented fashion designer and technical design specialist with a passion for creating stylish, comfortable, and inclusive clothing. With a degree in Apparel Design from Brigham Young University-Idaho, she has honed her expertise in garment construction, pattern making, and 3D design using cutting-edge tools like Browzwear V-Stitcher and Ge**er AccuMark.

Her impressive journey includes an internship at Kontoor Brands/Lee Men’s, where she worked on 3D rendering projects, and a stunning showcase at Georgetown University’s Pediatric Gala, where her “Carefree Spirit” outfit earned high praise. Linda’s vision is to build her own fashion brand in Ghana and launch an online business offering custom designs and alterations—a mission that aligns beautifully with our commitment to sustainability and innovation in fashion.

In Nairobi, waste collection accounts for only 60-70% of the total waste generated. Conducted primarily by the private sector, informal settlements often bear the burden of these inadequate services. Their waste is either dumped by the roadside, in rivers, or burnt, posing serious health hazards to the communities.

We see Nairobi’s potential to be so much more than what it currently is and believe in the power of unified efforts. This is why Paragon Institute of Innovation is corralling a team of partners like & to build a Center so that together, we can develop innovative solutions to waste challenges in Nairobi. Through partnerships with local stakeholders our center aims to restore planetary health in this region while transforming discarded materials into high-quality building resources, thus improving economic prospects through the creation of new jobs and improved living conditions for the informal settlers.

Over 70% of Nairobi’s population resides in informal settlements with poor air quality. Women and children are at constant risk of health issues, with 19,000 annual deaths caused by poor air quality in Kenya. About 25% of air pollutant concentration is made up by open waste burning and illegal dumping, highlighting the urgency of better waste management in the city.

However, we’re determined to contribute solutions and tools to our friends in Kenya, and are working with social entrepreneurs and partners to build a Center in Nairobi. Our initiative aims to mold, recycle, and up-cycle waste into value-added building materials, offering a sustainable solution to the city’s waste crisis.
