Waterman Bird Club, founded in 1958, focuses on helping people see and enjoy birds, as well as educating local residents and lawmakers on wildlife and environmental issues. With the exception of a small number of special “members only” events, all of our activities, including walks and monthly meetings, are open to the public free of charge. Our monthly meetings feature speakers from various organizations who bring us fascinating presentations on wildlife and environment. We are members of:
The New York State Ornithological Association (NYSOA)
The New York State Young Birders Club
The New York State Bluebird Society
We participate in:
National Audubon Society's Annual Christmas Bird Count
May Bird Census in Dutchess County
Breeding Bird Survey for the Fish and Wildlife Service, Department of the Interior
Nest Record Card Program for Cornell University
January Waterfowl Count for NYSOA (New York State
Ornithological Association)
Bluebird nesting box provision and maintenance throughout Dutchess County.
