I will be at Buchanan Farmers' Market tomorrow ( Saturday August 3) raising money to punch some cancer in the face. Come on out and give me a hand. I have a very lofy goal of $11,000 this year. Thats $1K for every year of my boy Ollie's life. That's also a lot of cookies so help a girl out please .

The Lights of Hope luminaries set up across the courthouse lawn are a great visible reminder to lawmakers and the public that cancer is still here. Each bag represents a cancer survivor , memory of a loved one lost or a caregiver.

You can make this one an evening to remember. Come early ( 6:00 PM) and enjoy Final Fridays. Food trucks! Vendors! Live music! Visit me at the courthouse lawn where I will have friendship bracelets and touchstones to make. ( by donation, all money goes to ACS CAN. I want the touchstones and bracelets to be healing and inclusive. So...if you are a kid with just a quarter, thats cool , come on in. If youre a business with a vendetta against cancer and want to sponsor, bring a check or scan the QR code in the comments.
Luminary bags are $10 each and can be purchased and decorated on site or we can meet up somewhere before of you
want time and space to make them magical.

Come on out, lets spend some time remembering , healing and fighting back at cancer .

Lights of Hope

In leiu of, or in absence of a local Relay for Life this year I will be holding a local Lights of Hope event on a sunday evening , August 27th.
This is an American Cancer Society event held from the advocay side the Cancer Action Network. I may not be leading the county wide Relay for Life event but I will continue fighting and advocating for the survivors ,caregivers, prevention and research dollars until I am no longer able.
I invite you all along with me on this journey and offer you the opportunity to honor and remember as well as continue your fight .
Detsails are still in the works but what I know now for sure is
* Date: Sunday, August 27th
* Time: 7:30 PM
* Location: Lagrange County Courthouse
* Luminaria bags may be purchased directly from me at the Lagrange Farmer’s Market, by texting or calling me 260-463-6584 or via this link: https://acscan.donordrive.com/participant/1456
* Bags must be purchased to be used at the event. ( chasing the cure and getting prevention comes at a cost) Its a long story. The short story is we can not use Relay for Life bags, they have to be Lights of Hope bags. They are both non profits and both ACS but different rules.
* All bags for this event will travel with me to the State Capitol steps for a state wide event tenatively scheduled for September 9th. You are all invited to attend that inaugural event. The first of hope many.
* As many of those bags I am able to take I will proudly display in Washingtone DC at the national Lights of Hope event.

* If any of you has an interest in coming alongside this advocay end of fighting cancer messgae me for details. American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network℠, ACS CAN, volunteers work to make sure our leaders take real steps toward finishing the fight against cancer. There is no Relay in the county this year but what if..... what if I held a luminaria at the courthouse ? Details to follow but in a nut shell:
Bags are $10 minimum donation
I have the bags, you cant use Relay bags they have to be the ACS Can Lights of Hope bags.
Lights of Hope honors not only survivors but also caregivers . So Survivors; you can dedicate one for your caregiver
You may decorate them yourself and bring them or I will
My top 20 donors only: your bag will go to Washington DC with me for thw National Lights of Hope walk
Date to be determined. I was considering Late August or early September.
Sunday evening? Monday? Tuesday? Weekend?
Any interest in this at all ?
Ill post a few pics from last years DC display and a link to my personal page. Tell me what youre thinking. I would love to do this locally but I dont want to dedicate my time resources to this if no one is interested in coming.

A huge shout to my ELT and all of the Team
captains . An extra big fist pump to all
of our Relay husbands as well as Anthony and Cat and Mona for jumping straight into the fore and helping out so much. Three cheers to Lakeland High School for hosting us again, it was great to be back . A nod to our local press and Patrick at KPV for acting as our official survivor photographer. To our amazing DJs and band . You were all we hoped for and then some . And lastly but far, far from the least of them is our sponsors . Without each and everyone of you it would have not succeeded . You! You are Relay and it’s all my pleasure to be able to make it happen alongside you. ( I was having a hard time tagging everyone so I tagged no one .)
You all have my whole heart for my whole life.

At 19.4%, Indiana has the highest adult smoking rate in the Midwest. We can and we must do better. I urge you to increase the state cigarette tax by $2.00 per pack with a parallel tax on all other to***co products, and invest a portion of to***co tax revenue in to***co control in order to reduce to***co use, protect kids, and save lives.
