Lakeland Champions Together

Lakeland Champions Together This is the offical page of Lakeland High School's Champions Together Program This is the Lakeland Champions Together official page.

This is a program that allows for the inclusion of students with intellectual or developmental disabilities through high school sports and unified events. Champions together is a program that was implemented by the IHSAA Student Advisory Committee, The IHSAA and Special Olympics Indiana, with the goal of providing life changing experiences for individuals with special needs. Lakeland during the 20

15-2016 school year earned the champions together banner with the leadership of Isaiah Lehman. The Champions Together Banner requires the following for schools
- Student Led
- Fundraising ($1500 or more)
- Whole School Presentation
- Unified games and events. Last year Lakeland raised over $1500 with over 5 different fundraisers. (football/basketball raffle, polar plunge, bake sale, and business pledges)
We held a school presentation with the champions together director Lee Lonzo in the school auditorium. We created a unified event @ Westview with over 50 athletes of all ages with intellectual or developmental disabilities. We had over 30 adult volunteers from Westview/Lakeland and over 60 students volunteers from Westview/Lakeland. The unified event had over 20 different stations including mini golf, basketball, bowling, corn hole, ring toss, cookie making stations, card making and many other friendly games and activities. We look forward toward the 2016-2017 school year. We hope to achieve more for our community and the individuals in need.
