🚌 Back to School Safety Reminder!🚌

School is starting back up, which means school buses, students, and increased traffic will be back on our roads.

The LaGrange Firefighter Association would like to remind everyone to slow down, stay alert, and help keep our students safe.

🏫 School Bus Safety Tips:

* Watch for children waiting at bus stops and crossing the street.
* Be prepared to stop when a school bus activates its flashing lights.
* Never pass a stopped school bus when its red lights are flashing and stop arm is extended.
* Allow extra following distance behind school buses.
* Avoid distracted driving, especially in school zones and neighborhoods.
* Give yourself extra time during morning and afternoon school traffic.

📵 Put the phone down, slow down, and stay alert.

Wishing all of our students, teachers, staff, and families a safe and successful school year!

Today, the members of the LaGrange Township Fire Department mourn the loss of one of our own, Don Youngblood Sr.

For 42 years, Don faithfully served the residents of LaGrange Township as a volunteer firefighter, answering the call with courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to his community. His dedication to the fire service was more than a commitment—it was a way of life.

Don’s legacy will live on through the firefighters he mentored, the lives he touched, and the countless people he helped throughout his years of service. His example of selfless service, integrity, and dedication will continue to inspire generations of firefighters to come.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Youngblood family and all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside Don. Thank you for sharing him with our department and our community for more than four decades.

Rest easy, Don. Your watch is over. We will take it from here.

Thank you for 42 years of faithful service. You will never be forgotten.

☀️Hot Weather Is Here—Stay Safe!🌡️

High temperatures can be dangerous for everyone, especially young children, older adults, and pets. The LaGrange Firefighter Association encourages everyone to take a few simple precautions to stay safe during hot weather.

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
🧢 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
👶🐶 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle—even for a minute.
❤️ Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and anyone without reliable air conditioning.
⚠️ Know the signs of heat-related illness, including dizziness, headache, nausea, confusion, and excessive sweating.

If you experience a heat-related emergency or see someone in distress, call 911 immediately.

Let's work together to keep our community safe and healthy this summer. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and look out for one another! 🚒

🎆Celebrate Safely This Independence Day!🇺🇸

The LaGrange Township Firefighter Association wishes everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July!

As you celebrate with family and friends, please keep these safety tips in mind:

🎇 Leave fireworks to the professionals whenever possible.
🧯 Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby when using legal consumer fireworks.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Always supervise children around fireworks and sparklers. Sparklers burn at nearly 2,000°F and can cause serious burns.
🚫 Never relight a "dud" firework. Wait at least 20 minutes, then soak it in water before properly disposing of it.
🏡 Keep fireworks away from homes, dry grass, trees, and other flammable materials.
🚗 Never use fireworks while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
🐾 Remember that loud fireworks can frighten pets—keep them indoors in a safe, secure place.

If an emergency occurs, don't hesitate to call 911.

Have a fun, safe, and memorable Fourth of July! Thank you for doing your part to help keep our community safe.

🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from the LaGrange Township Firefighter Association! 🚒
