What a powerful afternoon! 📈📊

We had the pleasuer pf partnering with Southwest Louisiana Chapter of Jack & Jill to conduct our Teen Money Matters: Investing in the Stock Market class today. Our teens learned how to analyze a company for growth potential and how investing can create wealth through capital gains and dividends.

Each participant selected a stock they were interested in, researched the company, analyzed its past performance, and presented their findings, demonstrating confidence, critical thinking, and real-world financial skills.

Also, a special thank you to Aetna Better Health of Louisiana for their continued partnership and support of youth financial literacy that empowers us to do more of these programs. Together, we’re building the next generation of leaders through financial literacy!

Dear Parents:

A custodial brokerage account allows you to invest in stocks, ETFs, and more on behalf of your kids—setting them up for long-term financial success!

✅ How It Works

The child legally owns the account, but a parent or guardian manages it until they reach adulthood (18 or 21, depending on the state). You can invest in stocks, ETFs, and mutual funds to grow their wealth over time.

Once they reach the age of termination, they gain full control of the funds.

🎯 Key Benefits:

Invest Early, Grow Wealth – Take advantage of compounding over time!
☑️ Tax Advantages – Some earnings are taxed at the child’s lower rate (subject to kiddie tax rules).
☑️ Flexible Use – Unlike 529 plans, funds aren’t restricted to education; they can be used for any expense that benefits the child.
☑️ Teaches Financial Responsibility – Get your child engaged in investing and money management early.

🏦 Where to Open a Custodial Account?
Several major online brokerages offer custodial accounts, including:
🔹 Fidelity
🔹 Charles Schwab
🔹 E-Trade
🔹 Vanguard

It’s never too early to learn financial literacy and start building generational wealth!

🎉 Today marked the final day of our 3-Day Monroe High School Financial Literacy Workshop!

Congrats to the 50 participants from Wossman High and Carrol High who showed up, stayed engaged, and finished strong.

On this last day, we wrapped things up with entrepreneurship. Students were able to take everything they learned this week—banking, budgeting, saving, and credit—and apply it to basic entrepreneurship concepts. They then developed business ideas and presented them with confidence and creativity!

This impactful 3-day workshop was made possible in partnership with Junior League of Monroe, and our statewide programming is proudly powered by Aetna Better Health of Louisiana.

Day 2 of our Financial Literacy Workshop in Monroe was all about investing in the stock market. 📈 📊

Fifty students from Wossman High and Carroll High learned how to research companies, evaluate their value, and decide whether they would be smart investments. Each student then chose a company to present to their peers—showcasing not just what they learned, but their ability to think critically about financial opportunities.

👏 Congratulations to our top three presentations—your hard work, research, and confidence truly stood out, and we’re proud to celebrate your achievements with prizes!

📍 Monroe, Louisiana (Wossman & Carroll High)

This morning, we had the pleasure of teaching and conducting financial literacy workshop sessions for 50 students at Wossman High School in Monroe.

Students from both Wossman High and Carroll High engaged in lessons on banking, budgeting, and credit—and also discovered how financial literacy and economic stability serve as critical social determinants of health.

We’re deeply grateful to the Junior League of Monroe for partnering with us again this year!

A special thank you to Aetna Better Health of Louisiana for powering our state travel and making cross-state programming possible.

📍Lafayette, LA - Youth Entrepreneurs Pitch Competition

Tonight, we successfully hosted the Youth Entrepreneurship Pitch Competition, the culmination of our three-week Youth Entrepreneurship Bootcamp held in partnership with the Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA). Ten remarkable youth entrepreneurs put their new skills to the test, confidently pitching their business ideas based on everything they learned about launching and running a business. We were able to award each of them with startup funding.

We extend a special thank you to our guest judges (Mandi Mitchell, Ruben Henderson & Jonas Richard) who brought valuable insight and encouragement to our participants. Also, thanks to Jourdan Quibodeaux of LEDA for asssting with tye program.

We are also incredibly grateful to the Stuller Family Foundation for their continued support of our youth programming in the Acadiana area. Your investment in local initiatives like this makes a real difference in the lives of the next generation.

Also a heartfelt thank you as well to Aetna Better Health, whose generous support allows us to deliver financial literacy and entrepreneurship programming not only in Acadiana but across the entire state of Louisiana.

We look forward to seeing all that these youth entrepreneurs accomplish!
