10 miles closer to their trek!

The Philmont crew hit the trails on Mt. Tamalpais this weekend, logging some training miles as they prepare for New Mexico. Packs were loaded, spirits were high, and the view from the top was stunning!

More fun with Pack 645 over the weekend! We led the 3 AOL dens through a service project, constructing and painting a “big chair” which will be donated to their elementary school, and making mini models of chairs from popsicle sticks. Troop 224 Scouts were on hand to help lead the activities, and answer questions about the transition from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA.

Big thanks to Pack 645 for joining us on this service project!

What do you do if you get lost in the woods?

Samantha, a Life Scout, visited Pack 645 to teach about the Hug a Tree and Survive program, sharing steps for kids to stay safe and be found more easily when lost. The presentation was part of her Eagle project, and included an introduction to the work of the Contra Costa County Search & Rescue Team, where she is a volunteer.

Great work Samantha!

The December Troop meeting is a Scout favorite! Pajamas or festive attire, pizza, and a white elephant gift exchange. It’s a great way to come together and celebrate amidst the busy Tree Lot season!

The question on everyone’s mind: who will be taking home the brake rotor this year?

From carrying trees to carrying themselves with confidence, the tree lot brings out the best in our Scouts! Helpful, hard working, courteous, and doing their part, we are so proud of what our Scouts learn during the tree lot season. 🎄🙌

Eight Scouts from Troop 224 are headed to Philmont Scout Ranch next July for a backcountry trek! 🏕️ Last weekend, the crew met for the first time to kick off planning and preparation—including selecting a trek leader and completing two hours of conservation service at the Moraga Farm Garden. 🌱

Service is an important part of Scouting—it reminds us to give back, care for our community, and protect the land we explore. Whether preparing soil for new crops or hiking through the high country of New Mexico, a Scout is always cheerful, helpful, and ready to serve! 💪🌾 Together, the crew gleaned a record 650 pounds of tomatoes, which were then donated to local organizations supporting those at risk of hunger!

Every meeting and service project helps the crew prepare physically, mentally, and as a team for their adventure ahead. Let the countdown to Philmont begin! 🏞️✨

Pretty cool weekend hanging around Sonoma County! 🧗🏽‍♀️

We had the best time earning the Climbing merit badge with a 2-day indoor and outdoor climbing session. In between, we enjoyed a night of camping (and got a lesson in proper dishwashing )!

Say hello to our newest Eagle Scout, Inga!

A dedicated, passionate Scout (and also 224G’s current SPL), Inga offers the following advice to younger Scouts: “Go do things that put you outside of your comfort zone because that is when you learn the most and you have the most fun.“

Congratulations Inga! We are so proud of you!

It was a great night for a groundbreaking ceremony! We were honored to have so many current and former Scouts and families with us to celebrate our future home!
