Coosa Ecological is proud to announce that Booker Moritz has joined the team as the Director of Ecological Restoration. Booker brings a wealth of experience to the Coosa team. After obtaining a master’s degree in Ecological Restoration from the University of Florida, Booker worked with The Nature Conservancy, Southeastern Grasslands Institute, and as a restoration manager on a private preserve. His restoration interests include grasslands, open woodlands, wetlands, and low-tech process-based stream restoration.

“I was impressed by Coosa’s extraordinary productivity, passion, and attention to quality so much so that I moved from Virginia to join the Coosa team,” says Booker. “The restoration potential here is the best I have seen, and I am excited to help these ecosystems reach their full potential with an aggressive yet cautious, deliberate, adaptive, and ecologically informed approach to restoration.”

We are thrilled to have Booker join us as we continue to restore, conserve, and protect ecosystems across the Southeast!

Bethel Barrens has undergone quite the transformation in less than a year! We are very excited to see what native species spring up as a result of selective thinning, non-native, invasive species eradication, and the return prescribed fire to these unique ecosystems.
