Lafayette Adults on the Spectrum This is a social group for adults with Asperger’s which is also run by someone with Asperger’s.

This is a social group for adults with Asperger’s Syndrome that is run by someone with Asperger's Syndrome and it's for those who live in the Tippecanoe County area. The purpose of the group is for adults with Asperger’s to meet other adults like themselves who have Asperger’s, to have a place to be free to be ourselves, to support and encourage each other, and hang out and have fun.

I have noticed that several people have been checking out Lafayette Adults on the Spectrum. The group has not been meeting because there were only 4 of us and 2 of the members moved out of state. I would love to keep the group going but there hasn't been any intetest. What I mean by that is that no one has reached out to me by commenting on the posts, emailing me or calling me. In order to keep the group going I need people to contact me and to show up to group meetings. If neither is done then we can't continue to meet. All that being said, I have a question to ask everyone. If we start meeting again most of the members will be new to the group. So, would those of you new members prefer to meet at my and my husband's house initially or at a bowling alley, Monster mini golf or something like that? Basically, I am asking which setting would be most comfortable for anyone who is new to the group. I have no issues with doing whatever makes people most comfortable but I need you to tell me what that is. I (Colleen Hoffman Steiner) am writing this post because recently we had one new member to our group. However, it seems that we have gone from 3 to 2. I will admit that ever since I got married I am not as interested in leading Lafayette Adults on the Spectrum anymore. I will continue the group if there is enough interest in it or a clear need for the group. I am not willing to just give up and walk away if there is an interest and need for a group like this in the Greater Lafayette area. If you want to see this group continue then please comment on this post and plan to come to group meetings. We did not have the movie night due to only two of us showing up. I was thinking of hosting a Halloween party close to Halloween but I will not do so if there is no interest. Basically, I really need to know whether or not to put an end to Lafayette Adults on the Spectrum.

Would anybody in the group like to get together to make tie dye shirts? We would each have to buy our own white shirt but I would buy the tie dye kit. I just thought it might be a fun activity for us to do and was wondering if anyone else is interested. Please let me know by commenting on this post.

I am writing this post because I am ready for Lafayette Adults on the Spectrum to start meeting again and am wondering what everyone would like to do for our first meeting. Do you want it to be inside (a movie, bowling, etc.) or do you want it to be outside (a picnic, miniature golf, etc.)? Please comment on this post and let me know. Thanks much!

I am glad that people are still viewing and liking this page. I am sorry that one thing after another has caused the group to continually be on hold. The most recent two things being the Covid-19 Pandemic and my Breast Cancer diagnosis. I am having lumpectomy surgery tomorrow, Thursday, January 14th at 11 am. After I am recovered from that I will likely be having radiation. I hope at some point this year after I am through with cancer treatment and the Pandemic ends we can start the group up again. In the meantime please feel free to comment on this post or on this page in general and let me know what kinds of things you would like the group to do and how often you would like to meet (once or twice a month). Thanks and I look forward to a time that we can all be together again.

This is Colleen Hoffman Steiner, the one who leads this group. I did indeed find out that I have breast cancer. However, due to all of the testing and two biopsies, one of which is yet to come, I will most likely not be having surgery until November. So, what I would like to know is this, would anyone be interested in having a Halloween Costume Party? Please let me know!

I am sorry to have to say this but the group is on hold once again. I (Colleen Hoffman Steiner) found out a few weeks ago that the doctor thinks that I have breast cancer. My biopsy is this coming Tuesday, September 22nd at 11 am. I hope to have the results by Friday, September 25th. The reason I say the group is on hold again is because whether it turns out to be cancer or not I am likely to be having surgery and I don't know how long my recovery will be. I will keep you all posted.

I am canceling bowling because only one person responded that they are going. If there were more of you planning to go tonight then please text me at (765)-426-0810 as soon as possible and we will still have the event. We will just have to start it a bit later. If I hear from enough people by 6 pm then we could have it at 7 pm tonight. Otherwise, it is definitely canceled. Would you all prefer an outdoor event instead because of Covid-19? If so, what would you like to do? Here are some of the things I can thing of: Hole In One Miniature Golf, a picnic at one of the local parks, the corn maze, the Tippecanoe Battlefield, and Prophetstown State Park.

I am most likely going to cancel the bowling event for tomorrow evening. I have not heard from anyone to say that they are going. I have gotten no comments on the posts and no phone calls or texts.
