Greater Lafayette Civitan Club

Greater Lafayette Civitan Club Civitan International is an organization of volunteer service clubs around the world. Members are dedicated to helping people wherever the need arises.

Civitan International was founded in 1917 by a group of businessmen determined to make a difference in their communities. Civitan's primary missions centers on helping people with developmental disabilities. Club members raise about $1 million annually to fund the Civitan International Research Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham which focuses on autism, Down syndrome, brain tumors,

epilepsy and other disorders. Local club members choose service projects based on the needs of their community. Our Greater Lafayette County Civitan Club was charter September 30, 2013.

Good to see everyone at the business meeting today! Brian Martin recognized Deb Wilson and Sandy Oswalt with the 1st Sponsored Member award. We also learned about Bill Fassel during our " Spotlight" segment. Many of us had no idea that Bill was a multi-sport athlete and chemist, in addition to his current duties as Civitan treasurer!
