Today is the 7th anniversary of Burke's death from Sudden Cardiac Arrest. I remember this morning in 2012 so well. It was a bright and sunny July day. We had no way of knowing that, by the end of it, our lives would be forever changed. Embrace today as this life is fleeting. Tomorrow is never promised to any of us. Love each other and forgive quickly. You never know when you will hug someone for the last time or tell them that you love them. Life is way too short to hold on to resentment, anger and grudges. We have one life to live right now.
If you have had great pain in your life, God can use this pain for good. In your own time, and when you feel ready, and if you are able, use it to help others. There are no comforting reasons as to why bad things happen. God says in Romans 8:28 "All things work for good for those who are called according to his purpose." I know that what we have done is not the path that everyone would have chosen. It was the only path we saw in front of us that made any sense. I have been given a voice to speak to others about Burke and SCA prevention. Every time I do I know Burke is there with me.
We know that heaven rejoices because Burke is home, we selfishly wish he could have stayed with us a little longer. We do not grieve like those that have no hope as we know we will see Burke again one day. For now, we must move forward in this life without his laugh, his smile, his big personality, generosity and kindness. We love and miss you Burke today and every day. Our lives are forever changed because we knew and loved you. I will always remember the last time I saw you in Maw Maw’s driveway. You hugged me goodbye and we told me “Love you TT” I’ll hold on to that until we meet again❤️❤️❤️
