A half dozen Lafayette Lions were on hand Wednesday afternoon when District Governor Shermayne Cross visited Lafayette and numerous other towns on the Lions Journey for Service. Over two-and-a-half days (Wednesday-Friday), she and driver Mike Vos will cover about 700 miles, making about 65 stops to meet with Lions and Leo clubs to collect money for various service projects in the district. Lafayette was one of the last stops on the first day. Lions Ruth, Mark, Trish, Taylor, Patti and Joe were on hand to greet Shermayne when her group pulled up at Citizens Bank.

The Lafayette Lions took on a new project Sunday afternoon, walking ditches. With a dozen walkers and two support people, the Lions—with several spouses and a few extras—tackled a two-mile stretch just north of Lafayette. Two three-person crews started on the south end and two on the north, meeting in the middle. Using Mark's side-by-side and Joe's pickup, all the debris was hauled to one spot for the highway workers to pick up. Turned out to be quite a pile. Thanks to everyone who came out to help!! We'll be at it again in fall.

The wet weather may have forced the Easter Egg Hunt indoors, but it didn't stop the kids from having fun!!! About a hundred kids (and lots of parents, grandparents, and other family members) turned out for the annual Lions egg hunt Saturday morning. "Hunting" was pretty easy with 2,000 eggs spread out over the floor of the fire hall. A big thanks to the firefighrers for allowing us to use the hall, Scott for moving the trucks out and back in (even though one didn't want to start), Conner, the Easter Bunny who greeted the kids, all our Lions and the Lafayette royalty for helping, and everybody who came!!! Five minutes to hunt, a few minutes to clean up and everything was done by 10:20!

With the nasty weather forecast for the rest of this week, the Lafayette Lions have decided to move Saturday's Easter Egg Hunt indoors. The Lafayette firefighters have graciously offered us the use of the fire hall. Same day, same time, just inside, out of the elements. Hope to see you there!

Umm, umm good! The weather was good, the waffles were great, and the turnout was super! All-in-all, the Lafayette Lions Dad's Belgian Waffle Brunch was a success! We served 277 meals at the breakfast, along with 36 takeouts for a total paid crowd of 313. In addition, there were 13 kids five an under who ate free—for a grand total of 326. We had awesome help, with Norseland 4-H members and parents, along with Miss Lafayette Zelli Kamm working side by side with our local Lions and even some family members. Thank you to all for their great help—and thank you to everyone who came to support the Lions. Proceeds from the event will go toward Lions projects in the community. THANK YOU TO ALL!
