On Friday we gave you a preview of first live auction item, our Helibacon helicopter hog hunt. Today we are focusing on our softer side by highlighting our second live item, this beautifully framed and signed photo of the Queen of Country Music, Dolly Parton. This live auction has a little something for everyone!

IT'S GALA WEEK and it is one of our favorite weeks of the year where we get to celebrate our impact with all of YOU! The guest email just went out, but here are a few of the key details if you are attending:

Our event is being held at the DoubleTree by Hilton on Pinhook Road in Lafayette on Thursday, October 22, 2026. Cocktail attire is requested.

Registration will open shortly after 5:30pm that evening. Once registered, make your way upstairs to be entertained by Vick's Jazz Trio for the Cocktail Hour that runs from 6:00 - 7:00pm where you can mingle as you enjoy appetizers and cocktails and peruse our auction items. Our staff will be available to assist you to your table in time for the main event, which includes entertainment by a popular performance troupe from New Orleans.

VIP guests and higher-level sponsors ($5,000 and up): be sure to visit your table to get your VIP wristband that entitles you to an open bar all evening on us. All other guests are welcome to enjoy the b**r and w**e package or can purchase mixed drinks. Dinner will be served shortly after 7:00pm.

W**E CRUSH!
Rest assured, the ever-popular W**e Crush game is back! Everyone is a winner with this game - $25 per cork pull with the bottles of w**e you are pulling for valued from $25 to $300. This game is CASH ONLY and each participant is limited to TWO corks so that everyone gets a chance to play.

232-HELP is proud to honor Dr. Frank “Jay” Culotta and Glenn and Dana Armentor as the 2026 recipients of the Jewell P. Lowe Humanitarian Award and Tre Bishop with our Trailblazer Award at our October 22nd gala.

Established in 2014, the JPL award celebrates individuals whose compassion, service, and humanitarian accomplishments improve the lives of people throughout Acadiana. It honors the legacy of Jewell Lowe, who co-founded the organization now known as 232-HELP in 1965 and devoted her life to connecting people in need with resources that help them build healthier, more productive lives.

This year, we celebrate our JPL honorees for carrying forward Jewell’s spirit of service and commitment to strengthening our community, while also recognizing the dedication to service of our younger generation of leaders.

Yesterday, 232-Help took part in the 2026 Annual Coterie Meeting hosted by Lafayette Consolidated Government.

What is a coterie? Good question! A coterie is an officially recognized neighborhood unit that provides a structured way for residents, property owners and businesses in a defined area to collaborate on local priorities, share accomplishments and plan for the future.

There are 6 recognized coteries in the downtown Lafayette area and each were represented at the meeting where they gave updates on the achievements of the previous year and long term plans for the upcoming years. The pride that each of these groups show in their neighborhoods and the support given to them by our local police department and our local government was refreshing to see.

Thank you to LCG for inviting us to take part in this event to learn about all of the good things that can happen with the help of public-private partnerships.

Continuing to break records, and not in a good way. Our call volume continuing to increase is definitely a sign of the times as many of our callers make up the ALICE population: Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed - in other words, the working poor. Paychecks aren't going quite as far as they used to, causing people who have never reached out for assistance in the past to call our office for resources.

That is what we do - when you don't know where to turn for help or you don't know what help is out there that you qualify for, calling 232-Help (232-4357) or 211 is a good place to start. We have a database filled with local and national resources, and our Community Resource Navigators can research what help may be available in your area. Call our office or text your zip code to 898211 to contact one of our specialists.
