Local 472 is proud to once again support Suncrest Peaks with our annual donation.

This contribution will help provide mental health services and supportive resources to retired firefighters who may otherwise face barriers to receiving the care they need.

Suncrest PEAKS is an Indiana nonprofit dedicated to the mental health and well-being of first responders, retirees, and their families. Their work ensures those who have spent their careers serving others have access to the support they deserve.

This marks the second consecutive year Local 472 has partnered with Suncrest PEAKS, and we remain committed to supporting their mission.

Congratulations to Lafayette Fire Department Recruit Class 2026-16

Last night, nine recruits officially graduated from our 14-week fire academy, marking the beginning of their careers in the fire service.

The Lafayette Professional Firefighters are proud of the hard work, dedication, and commitment these recruits have shown throughout the academy. We look forward to seeing them serve our community with professionalism and pride.

We were also honored to have Tony Murray, President of the Professional Firefighters Union of Indiana, and Vice President Hank Harris in attendance to help celebrate this important milestone.

Today, crews participated in natural gas and propane training provided by NIPSCOand Centerpoint Energy-Indiana Offiice. The training included a refresher on gas meter operations, hazard recognition, and best practices for safely managing gas-related emergencies.

Continuous training helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to serve the community safely and effectively.

It’s with great sadness that the Professional Fire Fighters Union of Indiana shares the news of the death of Nathaniel Thomas, an active member of the Indianapolis Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 416. Brother Thomas served both his community and his country as a Sergeant in the Indiana National Guard. He passed away on Thursday while on orders at Fort Bragg.

President Tony Murray and the Executive Board extend their condolences and support to Brother Thomas’ family, friends, the Indianapolis Fire Department, and the Brothers and Sisters of Local 416 during this difficult time.

Quint 5B responded to yet another duck rescue yesterday.

At this point, we’re considering adding “Waterfowl Retrieval Specialists” to the side of the truck. This makes duck rescue number 2 (or maybe 3?) in just a few months.

The ducklings are safe, the crew is undefeated, and apparently word has spread throughout the local duck community.

Congratulations to Local 472 President Trent Richter (Center Right) on his election as 2nd District Vice President of the Professional Fire Fighters Union of Indiana (PFFUI)!

Delegates from across Indiana gathered this week at the 50th PFFUI Convention in Indianapolis to conduct union business, discuss issues affecting professional fire fighters, EMTs, and paramedics, and elect the union’s leadership for the coming term.

As 2nd District Vice President, Trent will serve as a resource for locals across Indiana, helping provide support, guidance, and assistance to members and local unions throughout the district. The 2nd District stretches from Richmond to Angola to Lafayette and represents fire fighters from communities across a large portion of Indiana.

We are proud to see one of our own elected to this important leadership position and know he will represent the members of Local 472 and the fire fighters of the 2nd District with integrity and dedication.

Please join us in congratulating Trent on this well deserved achievement!

Yesterday members of Lafayette Fire Department gathered at Station 5 to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country this Memorial Day.

We were proud to spend part of the day with our community reflecting on the meaning of sacrifice, service, and remembrance.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and helped make today special, and thank you to all who continue to serve our nation and our communities.
