Today's takes us to Big Bend near Moreauville, LA, where this magnificent oak stands beside the historic Bayou des Glaises Cemetery and Baptist Church. 🌳

Sometimes it isn't just a big tree; it's part of a landscape carrying generations of local history. It's part of the story of the bayous, which were important transportation and economic corridors for early settlers.

Much of this area significantly changed after the Great Flood of 1927, but this oak remains - providing shade, shelter, beauty, and a living reminder that trees can become part of a place’s story simply by standing there long enough.

Trees like this are living landmarks — quietly holding their place while roads, waterways, homes and even entire communities change around them.

That's one reason we love finding the big old trees of Acadiana. 🌳💚
