A Ca****la had an amazing Zoom session today with Black South African choral composer and conductor Bongani Magatyana. He was literally teaching over Zoom from his home in Cape Town, South Africa.
ACAP learned an excerpt from his choral work AMABUTHO, in celebration of South African freedom fighter Oliver Tambo, and his return from political exile.
Learning musics of the world directly from culture bearers like Bongani is so important and so easily accomplished with modern technology. What a great experience!!! ❤️🖤

It is with heavy hearts but incredible gratitude that we reflect on the kindness, generosity, and fun-loving energy of Scott Rasmussen, who passed away peacefully on Friday morning. Even though his youngest daughter graduated from Jeff almost a decade ago, Scott still drove the equipment trucks to show choir competitions and helped with our tech and band equipment throughout the season. Just a wonderful guy whose giving spirit was an amazing example for our Jeff Choirs students. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. We hope many of our choir family can support them this Thursday at Soller-Baker Funeral Home. Details are available at the link below.

You have TWO chances to connect with and support our Jeff Choirs this weekend. The First Edition Car Wash will take place at JHS Broncho Circle/Hiatt Drive. Expressions will be performing at the RELAY FOR LIFE of Tippecanoe County at 6pm at the Fairgrounds. Limited dinner tickets are available for just $5 from Arni’s starting at 5pm at the Relay for Life. Admission to that event is free.
